Although not making a formal appearance, Mudclaw is mentioned by Lizardstripe, a ShadowClan queen, as her mate. While the queen and ShadowClan's leader, Raggedstar, are discussing the possibility of raising Raggedstar's motherless son, Brokenkit, Lizardstripe remarks that if toms could have kits, she insults her kits that she would have made Mudclaw have them instead, since Raggedstar won't tell her who the mother is.
