"This kind of suspicion, without a real reason behind it, could destroy the Tribe - or the Clans."
This article contains major spoilers for the recently released book, Hidden Moon. Please proceed at your own discretion.
"Do you know how many warriors would give their whiskers to be related to Firestar? You might not think it's special, but it would mean the world to another cat. It's an honor even ShadowClan warriors want. But you rejected it in front of the whole Clan, and that just seems...spoiled."
— Myrtlebloom to Nightheart in Sky, pages 30-31

Myrtlebloom is a pale brown she-cat.[1]

Myrtlebloom is a ThunderClan queen that has served under Bramblestar's and Squirrelstar's leaderships in the lake territories. She was born as Myrtlekit alongside her brother Baykit to Dewnose and Sorrelstripe. Her mother nursed Flamekit and Finchkit while their mother Sparkpelt was recovering. As an apprentice, Myrtlepaw was mentored by Eaglewing under the impostor's reign. After earning her warrior name of Myrtlebloom, she befriended Sunbeam when she left ShadowClan to join ThunderClan to be mates with Nightheart. Myrtlebloom and Flipclaw became mates, and had a litter of kits: Sunkit, Hazelkit, and Oakkit.

History[]

In The Broken Code arc[]

Lost Stars[]

Myrtlekit and her brother, Baykit, tumble around with Flamekit and Finchkit as their mothers listen to the Clan meeting. Later, she and Baykit play with Sparkpelt's kits while being monitored by Sorrelstripe. When Bramblestar's body is brought to camp, she stares sadly at it.

The Silent Thaw[]

"The new apprentices are called Myrtlepaw and Baypaw. Aren't ThunderClan names strange?"
―Needlepaw to Rootpaw about Myrtlepaw and Baypaw The Silent Thaw, page 43
She is now an apprentice by the name of Myrtlepaw and her mentor is Eaglewing. Needlepaw introduces Rootpaw to her and Baypaw at the Gathering and remarks that ThunderClan cats have weird names. Later, Myrtlepaw and her brother listen to Graystripe, who is telling them a story.

Darkness Within[]

When Thornclaw and Lionblaze argue about the status of ThunderClan's current leadership, with Squirrelflight and Lionblaze as acting leader and deputy respectively, Myrtlepaw and Flamepaw slide from the apprentices' den to watch the argument.

The Place of No Stars[]

When Graystripe returns from his wander, he orders the apprentices to take the remaining prey off the fresh-kill pile to the elders.

In the A Starless Clan arc[]

River[]

Myrtlepaw shares prey with her foster sister, Finchpaw, before their warrior assessments. Eaglewing and the other mentors call for their apprentices to begin their assessments, and the Clan wishes them luck. Myrtlepaw passes, and she is named Myrtlebloom.

Sky[]

"See? You can see how important your kin are. It's not too late. Everyone will realize that it was just a mistake and that you've changed your mind after thinking about it. You can go and ask for your real name back."
―Myrtlebloom to Nightheart Sky, page 32
After Finchlight turns her brother away, Nightheart eats with Myrtlebloom. She attempts to reason with him about why his kin are disappointed with his decision to reject his original warrior name of Flameheart. Myrtlebloom insists it is because he has rejected Firestar's name, and his legacy is important to ThunderClan. She challenges him to think about the kind of warrior he wants to be. Myrtlebloom, Flipclaw, Lionblaze, and Finleap are later assigned to hunt near the beeches. She later eats with Bayshine and Finchlight. When Nightheart decides to leave ThunderClan, he decides to tell Myrtlebloom.

Shadow[]

When Nightheart leaves Bramblestar's den, Myrtlebloom and Bayshine ask him about their conversation. Myrtlebloom is surprised when Nightheart says that he is returning to ShadowClan.

Thunder[]

Myrtlebloom rests with Bayshine, Nightheart, and Sunbeam. Bayshine teases her about her snoring, but Sunbeam says that she has not heard Myrtlebloom snore. Myrtlebloom tells Sunbeam that she prepared her a nest, and Sunbeam thanks her. When Bayshine tells the story of how Nightheart brought home a live vole, Myrtlebloom brings up how he got himself stuck in the Sky Oak. Poppyfrost brings a mouse to Nightheart and he tries to share it with his mate, but she chooses to eat a squirrel with Myrtlebloom.
Sunbeam returns to camp with her patrol with Myrtlebloom, Poppyfrost, and Finchlight. Myrtlebloom and Bayshine head to the warriors' den, and Sunbeam contemplates where to settle, considering the two littermates and recalling that Myrtlebloom had taught her how to hunt like ThunderClan. Myrtlebloom invites her over and praises her hunting skills. While cleaning her tail, she asks Sunbeam if it feels odd to hunt in a new forest. When Berryheart barges into camp, Myrtlebloom sits up to listen. After the confrontation, Ivypool sends Sunbeam to gather herbs with Myrtlebloom, who reassures her when she worries about finding the wrong herbs.
When Nightheart returns from the Moonpool, Myrtlebloom suggests that StarClan could be hiding. Sunbeam tells Nightheart that Myrtlebloom was kind to her. Soon after, Sparkpelt approaches Nightheart and mentions that Myrtlebloom told her that StarClan never showed up. When Squirrelstar does return with her nine lives, Myrtlebloom cheers for her. She wonders if Nightheart has left again when he does not return and tries to reassure a concerned Sunbeam. Later, Myrtlebloom comments to her kin that she had believed that WindClan were the only ones who hunted in rabbit burrows.
Sunbeam reflects on Nightheart's absence and recalls that Myrtlebloom and Bayshine have been inviting her on patrols. At the start of her final trial, she sees Myrtlebloom and Sparkpelt watching her with encouraging looks, and once she finishes, Myrtlebloom welcomes her as a Clanmate. When Cherryfall brings Sunbeam prey, it is mentioned that she had been on patrol with Myrtlebloom, Finchlight, and Cherryfall. At the Gathering, Sunbeam sees Myrtlebloom sitting with Bayshine, Violetshine, and Brindlewing. Bayshine mentions that RiverClan still has no leader or legitimate medicine cat, and Myrtlebloom says that they should have hope.

Star[]

Myrtlebloom accompanies Nightheart, Eaglewing, Wafflepaw, and Flipclaw into camp with prey and comments to Nightheart that it was a great hunt, before heading away with Flipclaw. Later, She is seen sharing a thrush with her littermate, Bayshine.

In the Changing Skies arc[]

The Elders' Quest[]

"Sunkit must have been having a dream. He's confused about what was the dream and what was real. We'll have to keep a closer eye on him at night in the future."
―Myrtlebloom on why Sunkit may have left camp The Elders' Quest, page 193
She is now a mother to Flipclaw's kits, Hazelkit, Sunkit, and Oakkit.
Myrtlebloom's kits go missing in the night, and she cries in distress. Shellfur tries to tell her that the kits will be found, and Daisy reassures her as well. Myrtlebloom tells Squirrelstar about her kits, and wails when Ivypool reports that they have left the camp.
When Oakkit and Hazelkit are found, Hazelkit whines that she is hungry and wants Myrtlebloom. Squirrelstar orders Cinderheart to take the kits back to Myrtlebloom, who will warm them up. Sunkit is found later on, and returns to Myrtlebloom with the search patrol. Myrtlebloom lifts Sunkit off of Moonpaw's back and purrs so loudly that she cannot vocalize her thanks.
Sunkit explains that a cat who looks like Moonpaw led him out of camp, and Myrtlebloom chocks it up to the imaginative kit's dream. She says that Sunkit probably cannot tell dreams from reality yet, and promises to keep a closer eye on him at night.

Myrtlekit and Baykit are the kits of Sorrelstripe and Dewnose. Her mother nurses Sparkpelt's kits after the death of Flickerkit and Larksong. Squirrelflight spots Myrtlekit and Baykit sleeping with their mother, and Sorrelstripe is exhausted after nursing all four kits. When Squirrelflight's spirit visits ThunderClan, she spots Sorrelstripe and her kits outside the nursery.
