Various characters in the Warriors series are named after a specific individual, usually after a close friend, family, or dead cat. There are also cases of naming a cat after an event that occured beforehand. Reasons vary between each named individual.

Thunderstar	Storm	Turtle Tail named Thunder after the collapsing building he was born in, and his deceased mother, Storm.
Lightning Stripe	Lightning Tail	Lightning Stripe was named in memory of Lightning Tail, Thunderstar’s closest friend and former deputy.
Sweetpaw	Sweetbriar	Sweetpaw was named after Pinestar's mother, Sweetbriar.
Leafpool	Leafstar & Spottedleaf	Leafpool was named after Leafstar by Firestar and Sandstorm, though Firestar notes that her name may have come from Spottedleaf's suffix.
Jayfeather	Crowfeather	Leafpool chose Jayfeather's suffix in memory of his biological father, Crowfeather.
Hollyleaf	Leafpool	Hollyleaf's suffix was named after her biological mother, Leafpool.
Brambleclaw	Tigerclaw	Bramblestar's warrior name, Brambleclaw, was named after his father's: Tigerclaw.
Cinderheart	Cinderpelt	Cinderheart is named after her paternal aunt, Cinderpelt, who died protecting Sorreltail during Cinderheart's birth.
Molewhisker	Molepaw	Molewhisker is named after his deceased uncle, Molepaw.
Hollytuft	Hollyleaf	Hollytuft is named after her paternal aunt Hollyleaf.
Sorrelstripe	Sorreltail	Sorrelstripe is named after her grandmother Sorreltail.
Fernsong	Ferncloud	Fernsong is named after Ferncloud, who died in the Great Battle.

Badgerfang	Flintfang	Badgerfang chose his warrior name, Badgerfang, after his uncle and mentor Flintfang.
Tigerstar	Tigerstar	Tigerstar was named after his maternal grandfather, Tigerstar. The reasoning is unknown.
Lightleap	Dovewing and Tigerstar	Lightleap was named to celebrate the differences between her parents.
Spireclaw	Spiresight	Berryheart named Spireclaw after Spiresight following his death.
Shadowsight		Shadowsight was named after Spiresight's suffix.

SkyClan

Star Flower	The Blazing Star	Star Flower was named after the Blazing Star, and her eyes have the five petals reflected in them.
Dew Petal	Petal	Skystar named his daughter after his dear friend, Petal, who died of a sickness.
Firefern	Firestar	Leafstar named her daughter after Firestar, who reinstated SkyClan.
Stormheart	Sandstorm	Leafstar named her daughter after Sandstorm, who helped reinstate SkyClan.
Harrybrook	Sol	Leafstar named her son after Harry, a kittypet who helped her escape from a Twoleg, though this was before she was aware of his true name: Sol.
Violetshine	Pebbleshine	Violetshine's suffix was named after her mother; Pebbleshine.
Needlepaw	Needletail	Needlepaw was named after Violetshine's deceased friend, Needletail.

WindClan

Stonefur	Stonepelt	Stonefur is named after Bluestar's first mentor, Stonepelt.
Milkfur	Milkfur	Milkfur is named after her mother.
Willowbreeze	Their WindClan father and RiverClan mother	Willowbreeze’s suffix honors her half-Clan heritage, as her father, Reedfeather, was from WindClan.
Graypool		Graypool’s suffix was given in honor of her mother, Fallowtail, being from RiverClan.
Willowkit	Willowbreeze	Willowkit was named after her mother, Willowbreeze.

Stormkit	A storm and an oak tree	Stormkit was named after the storm that occured during his birth.
Oakheart		Oakheart was named after the oak tree that sheltered him and his mother during his birth in a storm.

Blue Whisker	Blue-tinged whiskers	Blue Whisker was named after her whiskers, which were translucent and were said to look blueish in certain lights.
Tawnyspots	Pale brown spots	Tawnyspots is named after the pale brown spots he had on his belly after birth.
Halftail	Part of his tail missing	When Sparrowpelt retired to the elder’s den, his name was changed to Halftail, because part of his tail had been bitten of by a badger.
Smallear	Small ears	Smallear was named for his very small ears.
One-eye	Clouded white eye, missing eye	She was originally named White-eye because of her milky, clouded-over eye, but she later lost that same eye to a badger, and her name was changed to One-eye when she retired to the elder’s den.
Rosetail	Pinkish-orange tail	Rosetail’s name derives from her bushy, pinkish-colored tail, which contrasts with her gray tabby body.
Thistleclaw	His spiky fur	His named was suggested by Bluefur for his spiky fur as a kit.
Tigerstar	His claws	Tigerstar got his warrior name, Tigerclaw, because of his huge, "fearsome" claws.
Longtail	Long tail	Longtail is named after his longer-than-average tail, and Longtail always knew what his warrior name was going to be.
Firestar	Fiery ginger pelt	When Rusty joined ThunderClan, Bluestar gave him the name of Firepaw in honor of his flame-colored pelt.
Squirrelflight	Bushy, squirrel-like tail	Squirrelflight was named for her bushy tail.
Lionblaze	Lion-like appearance	Lionblaze was named for his appearance, which looks like a lion.

RiverClan

Spider Paw	Extra toe	Spider Paw is a polydactyl cat, which means he has a sixth toe on one of his paws, and his name references this.
Crookedstar	Broken jaw	As requested by Rainflower, Crookedstar had his prefix changed to be named after his broken jaw.

Mouse Ear	Ears as small as a mouse’s	Mouse Ear was named after his ears, which are said to be as small as a mouse’s.
Mud Paws	Black fur around his paws	Mud Paws was named after the black fur ringing his paws that contrast with his brown fur and make it look as though he walked through mud.
Raggedstar	Raggedy, patched fur	Raggedstar was named after his patchy fur, which he gained from always play-fighting as a kit.
Brokenstar	Yellowfang's feelings about leaving him and his broken-like bent in his tail	His mother, Yellowfang, named him Brokenkit because of the way she felt having left him, but also knowing that every cat would think it is because of his broken-like tail.

Windstar	Being able to run as fast as the wind	Wind Runner was named after her ability to run as fast as the wind, and the name was later given to the Clan she founded; WindClan.
Gorsestar	Spiky head fur	Gorsestar was named after the spiky fur on his head.

Tallstar	Long tail	Tallstar’s warrior name, Talltail, derives from his unusually long tail.
