Nutmeg, Firestar's mother, is never mentioned by name in the series. She is only named on the Warriors App and on the Warriors website family tree. However, she is referred indirectly in "Fire and Ice", when Princess tells Fireheart that their mother still lives nearby. Fireheart also dreams of nursing at his mother's belly as a kit.

Though she is not mentioned by name, Fireheart dreams about when he was still a kit, lying beside Nutmeg and his siblings. The next morning, he thinks about her when he sees Brindleface picking up her kit and putting it back on its paws when it falls. He wonders if his mother would have done the same for him and his siblings. When Fireheart first speaks to Princess, she tells him that he still has their mother's scent. After telling her he had dreamed about her and their siblings, he asks where their mother is, and Princess tells him that she is still with her housefolk. She also tells him that their other siblings live in the same Twolegplace that she does, and that Fireheart once did. She adds that she sometimes sees them in their gardens.
