In Mapleshade's Vengeance, Oatspeckle is briefly mentioned as the medicine cat before Ravenwing. Mapleshade sees how hard Ravenwing is working, and feels a pang of sympathy for him—the young tom had only been responsible for the Clan for about two moons, since the death of his mentor, Oatspeckle.
