"My kits will come with me." |
— Owl Feather about moving to the mountains in Long Shadows, page 215 |
Owl Feather is a wiry,[2] speckled, pale[5] brown she-cat with yellow eyes.[2]
History[]
In the Power of Three arc[]
Long Shadows[]
- Owl Feather's kit: "Are we really going all the way to the top of the hill?"
- Owl Feather: "That's right. And even farther than that."
- Long Shadows, page 227
- Owl Feather is a queen with three unnamed young kits. After Jay's Wing and Half Moon share a blackbird, Half Moon suggests that they take it to Owl Feather. When they arrive, Owl Feather gives her kits some blackbird to try. Half Moon tells Owl Feather about the meeting that the cats were having to decide whether to leave or stay and Owl Feather is adamant that she will leave with her kits.
- When Jagged Lightning, Owl Feather's mate, voices that he wants to stay, Half Moon comments that Owl Feather won't like that he wants to stay. At the casting of the stones, she is absorbed in her kits playing, while Jagged Lightning chooses to stay by the lake. Without looking at him, she casts her stone to leave. Owl Feather's kits ask if they are really going up to the mountains and Owl Feather replies that they are.
In the Omen of the Stars arc[]
Sign of the Moon[]
- "I wanted to leave, too, but now I want to go back. I'm afraid my kits will die if we stay here."
- ―Owl Feather expressing her opinion Sign of the Moon, page 229
- When her kits attempt to suckle, they let out wails when they can't find any milk. Owl Feather sadly says that because she hasn't been eating well, she can't produce enough milk for her kits. Jagged Lightning then says that he must hunt for his mate so that the kits won't starve. When the cats decide to try hunting in groups Owl Feather says that they won't be practicing with her kits and she expresses worry that one of the strong birds would get her kits.
- Owl Feather lays next to Shy Fawn, it is noted that Shy Fawn's belly is very swollen and that her kits will come soon. Shy Fawn's kits start coming and Jayfeather tells Owl Feather to go fetch a stick for her to bite on when she's in pain. When Jayfeather visits the Tribe of Endless Hunting he sees the faint outlines of Owl Feather, Stone Song, Rising Moon, and Half Moon farther back in the ranks of cats, their starry pelts barely visible.
The Last Hope[]
- "I will fight beside Jagged Lightning and my kits to defeat this darkness."
- ―Owl Feather about the final battle The Last Hope, page 4
