While Rootspring, Bristlefrost, Needleclaw, and Spotfur are out searching for the Sisters, Rootspring says that Tree told them to look for a kittypetnamed Pancakes, who knows the Sisters. He says that Tree said Pancakes lives in a Twoleg nest in a valley beyond the Moonpool. The group searches for Pancakes until dusk, and although they meet three other kittypets, none of them had heard of Pancakes or the Sisters. They stop at another Twoleg nest, and Spotfur and Bristlefrost decide to check it while Rootspring and Needleclaw hunt. The two she-cats end up alerting a dog, which they flee from. They manage to escape, and while they're recovering from the chase, two kits run up to them. They say that their names are Bacon and Eggs, and that they're Pancakes' kits, although Pancakes himself is now long gone.
