Chapter description[]
- Thunder's cats are arguing with Slash. Thunder insists his cats need healing and to be treated and have battle training, but Slash says that they can't even fight, therefore they aren't worth being trained. As soon as he says this, Fern, Dawn and Moss renounce their loyalty to Slash, suggest joining a group and argue that he’s been treating his cats horribly while only taking care of Splinter, Beetle and himself. But at Fern's suggestion, Thunder ponders if the groups would accept the rogues. Slash makes a scathing remark and comments that Thunder should take care of his seceding cats, which makes Thunder freeze and think. But the Fern, Moss and Dawn countered Slash, saying they could live on their own.
- After Slash leaves, Fern suggests they fetch Pebble Heart so he can tend to the injured cats. Lightning Tail leads the group to the moor camp, while Thunder remembers Beech and wonders what could've been. Drizzle asks him if Slash would come back, but Dawn comforts her and reassures her kit that her and Moss would protect the kits. But Thunder was still wondering what to do.
- As soon as they arrived at camp, Violet and other cats swarmed the injured rogues asking what happened. Willow realizes that Red led the dogs to Slash in order for the fight to take place, and that he was a traitor. The cats also assess the deaths of Beech and Stone, and the safety of everybody, and Dawn thanks Thunder and Lightning Tail. Violet encourages Ember and Bee that they don't need Slash and that they're just as capable on their own without his leadership, and says they'll share the prey with the injured rogues.
- A moment later, Pebble Heart charged in packed with herbs and assessed the injured cats, especially Frog, tending to him while Violet helped slow the bleeding. While everyone is being treated, Thunder feels a shooting pain in his paw. Violet says it’s the dog bite, and offers to help. But Thunder jerks away, saying he can tend to it himself. Violet is slightly hurt by this and apologizes, but Thunder is more worried about the kits, wondering if Slash would come back.
