"I knew I'd see you again. They said I could give you a life, too. So mine is for bravery, even when you are walking into shadows. There will always be light, even in the darkest night."
— Perchkit giving his mother a life in Mistystar's Omen, chapter 3

Perchkit is a small black tom with either green[1] or blue eyes.[2]

History[]

In The Prophecies Begin[]

Forest of Secrets[]

When Fireheart speaks with Mistyfoot about the truth of Oakheart's death, Mistyfoot sharply remarks she left her kits to talk to Fireheart and wants him to hurry up. When Fireheart goes with Graystripe so the latter can visit Silverstream, they discover two kits—which turn out to be Perchkit and Pikekit—trapped on debris in the river near Sunningrocks. Fireheart wades out to rescue them and pushes the debris closer to the shore, and he and Graystripe take the kits back to RiverClan where they are stopped by Leopardfur, Stonefur, and Blackclaw—the kits' father. Stonefur recognizes Pikekit and Perchkit as his sister's kits, but Leopardfur and Blackclaw are more skeptical due to their distrust of ThunderClan. At the camp, Fireheart and Graystripe explain how they came across the kits while Mistyfoot joyously reunites with Perchkit and Pikekit. At the Gathering, Bluestar asks Mistyfoot about her kits, and Mistyfoot reports they are recovering and will soon be apprentices.

Rising Storm[]

He is mentioned indirectly by Mousefur when she tells Leopardfur that Mistyfoot's kits will soon begin to learn, sarcastically reminding him that they were saved from the river by Fireheart.

In the Super Editions[]

Leopardstar's Honor[]

"I want to go back out. I know we didn't find them this morning, but we can't give up. I should have swum after them as soon as they were washed away. Why did you tell me they were lost?"
―Blackclaw to Leopardfur after Perchkit and Pikekit are swept away Leopardstar's Honor, page 346
After Frogleap's death, Mistyfoot ushers her kits inside the nursery and instructs Perchkit and his littermates to play with Woodkit, Dawnkit, and Robinkit. When the camp floods, Perchkit and Pikekit are swept away hanging onto the nursery. Crookedstar loses a life trying to save Woodkit and Robinkit, and Mistyfoot fears the same fate for her sons. Blackclaw goes on many search patrols to find his missing kits. While on another patrol with Leopardfur and Stonefur, they discover Fireheart and Graystripe on their territory with Perchkit and Pikekit, insisting they found the kits in the river. Leopardfur and Blackclaw accuse them of spying and stealing the kits, and Perchkit and Pikekit are taken back to camp and reunited with Mistyfoot. When Tallstar visits the camp later, Perchkit and his siblings are eager to meet the WindClan leader.

In the Novellas[]

Mistystar's Omen[]

Perchkit appears in StarClan, along with his siblings, Primrosepaw and Pikepaw, when Mistyfoot comes to receive her nine lives. Perchkit is very pleased to see his mother, and he presents her with a life for bravery, while his siblings watch. At the end of the ceremony, he is joined by Primrosepaw and Pikepaw in congratulating Mistystar on ascending to the rank of leader. Mistystar often thinks of her kits, regretting how short her time with them was.
