"Pinebrush was all jittery, worried I really had meant it. She tried to tell me that the Clans were stronger together, and that even if we disagree sometimes, we'd be glad of their help if there was a real crisis."

Pinebrush is the ShadowClan medicine cat. When Stripestar and Galestar announce their plans to merge their two Clans into StormClan, Pinebrush realizes that StarClan did not approve of their proposal, and that Stripestar and Galestar are acting against the wishes of their ancestors. Stripestar insists that StarClan just needs more time, though Pinebrush's comments spurs the Gathering into verbal outrage. Later, Galestar attempts to ask for help with prey from Snakestar, though the ShadowClan leader brushes her off even after Galestar threatens to leave the forest. Pinebrush privately speaks with Galestar about her threat, though Galestar wonders if leaving the forest is the right idea after all.
