- Crookedkit comes across Piper and her family on his way to the Moonstone. The young cat lives with her littermates, Soot, Magpie, and Mist, and her mother, Mitzi, and uncle, Fleck. Their mother says that while Piper and her siblings are definitely a pawful, she can handle them and loves them dearly. Crookedkit instantly bonds with the kits, and offers to take care of them while Mitzi goes to get a drink. Crookedkit attempts to teach the kits how to play moss-ball, and Piper appears to be very curious about what moss is. Instead, Crookedkit teaches them corn-ball and he watches as Piper scoops the corn away from Soot
- Crookedkit remains with the barn cats for a moon, and frequently watches the kits for Mitzi. When a monster comes to the cornfield, Piper is kept safe with her mother. After successfully rescuing Soot, Crookedkit announces that he is leaving to return to his Clan, and Piper and her siblings are sad, having grown close to Crookedkit during this time there. When Crookedkit, now an apprentice named Crookedpaw, travels to the Moonstone a few moons later, he meets Piper's sister, Soot. She says that Piper is alive and well, still living with Fleck and Mitzi at the barn, and that Mist and Magpie were taken to hunt mice at a different barn. Crookedpaw vows to never forget the barn cats, and thinks of them fondly.

- Piper is alluded to on Crookedstar's page. Crookedkit, upon leaving RiverClan, went to stay with some barn cats for a while, and learned from them. While he loved his time there, he realized he was a RiverClan cat at heart, and left Piper and her family.
