"I could never have managed this without you. Losing Sandynose still feels so raw, and I could never take another mate, but I'll need help with these kits—if I'm not presuming too much, would you want to help me?"
— Plumwillow to Hawkwing in Hawkwing's Journey, page 244

Plumwillow is a dark gray[9] she-cat[10] with green[11] or amber eyes.[12]

Plumwillow is a SkyClan warrior under Leafstar's leadership in the gorge and lake territories. She was born as Plumkit to Fallowfern and Waspwhisker alongside her littermates, Rabbitkit, Nettlekit, and Creekkit, and became an apprentice as Plumpaw. After becoming a warrior, Plumwillow mentored Cloudmist and became mates with Sandynose, but when Darktail and his rogues drove SkyClan from the gorge, Sandynose went missing. Hawkwing aided Plumwillow in raising her kits, Finkit, Dewkit, and Reedkit, until Sandynose was able to reunite with them. Upon arriving at the lake, Plumwillow mentored Sunnypelt, and assisted her Clan when they left for the gorge, but returned with them. However, Sandynose was killed in the battle for ShadowClan, leaving Plumwillow, Finleap, Dewspring, and Reedclaw devastated.

A Vision of Shadows[]

"What are we doing here? We're far from the lake and nowhere near the gorge. And no cat should be traveling in weather like this. No wonder StarClan wanted us to stay."
―Plumwillow about leaving the lake The Raging Storm, chapter 18
Plumwillow arrives at the lake along with the rest of SkyClan after the defeat of Darktail. Her son, Finpaw, decides to leave SkyClan to join ThunderClan to be with his friend, Twigpaw, but Plumwillow remains friendly with him. When Leafstar decides to lead SkyClan back to the gorge, Plumwillow regrets leaving her son behind, and further believes the decision was a mistake when their Clan is battered by a raging storm. During this time, she trains an apprentice, Sunnypaw.

In SkyClan's Destiny, Plumkit and her brothers, Rabbitkit, Nettlekit, and Creekkit, are eager to start their warrior training despite their young age. However, they are allowed a tree climbing lesson supervised by Leafstar and Billystorm. In the comic, Plumpaw passes her warrior assessment and is named Plumwillow.
In Hawkwing's Journey, Plumwillow's apprentice, Cloudmist, completes her warrior training. When Darktail drives SkyClan from the gorge, it is revealed that Plumwillow is expecting Sandynose's kits. However, he disappears in the aftermath of the battle. She grows close to Hawkwing and asks him to help raise her kits after his mate, Pebbleshine, is taken away in a monster. Hawkwing agrees, and Plumwillow soon gives birth to Finkit, Dewkit, and Reedkit. Moons later, Sandynose reunites with the travelling Clan and Plumwillow.

Tigerheart: "Perhaps SkyClan doesn't understand our ways yet. Prey belongs to the Clan where it's caught."
Plumwillow: "Really? What about the rabbit Sandynose and Rabbitleap caught for you? That was caught on SkyClan land, wasn't it? And yet you took it because it ran from ShadowClan territory."
Juniperclaw: "If Sandynose and Rabbitleap want to give away prey, that's up to them. We have a hungry Clan to feed."
Plumwillow: "So do I. Is ShadowClan's hunger more important than SkyClan's hunger?"
Tigerheart: "No Clan's hunger is more important."
—Tigerheart, Plumwillow and Juniperclaw arguing over prey Tigerheart's Shadow, pages 62-63

Plumwillow: "If you want my prey, you'll have to take it from me. I chased it and I caught it. It belongs to SkyClan."
Juniperclaw: "Is this how SkyClan shows respect for us? When we gave you some of our territory, we were doing you a favor. Now you steal our prey."
Plumwillow: "I'm not stealing. And when we moved into our new home, we did you a favor. You admitted that you weren't strong enough to patrol a large territory. With us patrolling, you know your border is safe from rogues."
Grassheart: "Does SkyClan think it's protecting us?"
Plumwillow: "There are barely enough of you to make a Clan. Of course we're protecting you. So is ThunderClan. We are keeping your borders safe while you recover."
—Plumwillow, Juniperclaw and Grassheart arguing over prey Tigerheart's Shadow, page 63

"Why must we suffer? SkyClan has always respected the warrior code."
―Plumwillow about the codebreakers The Silent Thaw, page 173

Plumwillow: "Do we have any codebreakers?"
Sagenose: "Of course not!"
Plumwillow: "I don't know...We must reconnect with StarClan. It's been moons since we last heard form them, and the frost seems to be over. So maybe we should investigate whether there are any codebreakers in our Clan."
