"Yes, I do. I'm not able to see every outcome, but being here in the eternal hunting grounds has given me a special connection to kits—those who have been born, and those who are still to come. These kits and their parents will be very important to the wildcats and the last remnants of StormClan. It's up to you to reunite them."

Before Pounce is even born, Galestar tells Ivypool, Icewing, Whistlepaw, and Rootspring his and his littermates' names to earn Stalk Purr and Tumble Leap's trust. Galestar tasks the Clan cats with leading the unborn kits and his parents to the rest of the wildcat group.

Stalk Purr gives birth before the patrol can find the wildcats. Pounce is the last to be born and the smallest of his littermates, though he is motionless. Whistlepaw's attempts to revive the kit initially fail, and Stalk Purr blames herself for not being able to deliver a healthy litter of kits. Whistlepaw shakes Pounce by his tail, which eventually causes him to squeak. Pounce joins his littermates by his mother's flank, and Tumble Leap and Stalk Purr thank Whistlepaw. The kits are named Hunt, Stretch, and Pounce, and Tumble Leap hopes his kits will receive the second part of their name once they are blessed by their ancestors.

A few days later, Icewing and Ivypool return to Tumble Leap and Stalk Purr's family with Prowl Sleek, Claw Stretch, Strike Slash, and Wish Stalk. Prowl Sleek performs the ceremony to welcome the three kits to their group and connect them with their ancestors. A spirit named Whisper Claw steps forward as Pounce's spirit guide, naming him Pounce Whisper. His siblings are renamed Hunt Leap and Stretch Blink. The following morning, Pounce Blink and his family travel with the wildcats back to their camp.
