Prophecies and omens are dreams and signs given by StarClan to leaders, medicine cats, and sometimes to other Clan members as well, to foretell the future and warn them about incoming events.[1] This page lists prophecies and omens from The Prophecies Begin arc.
Meaning: This is a warning for Fireheart to beware of Tigerclaw, but Fireheart thinks it is Graystripe since they are having an argument at the time. He later finds out that it is Tigerclaw, when the deputy allows Leopardfur to fight Fireheart in the battle against RiverClan in defense of WindClan and does not attempt to help him.[4]
Meaning: A warning for Fireheart that even though Tigerclaw has been exiled, he is still a major threat.[10] Fireheart considers the possibility of the prophecy referring to Darkstripe, but he rejects the idea because he already knows he can't trust him, so the prophecy must be referring to something else. He then believes it refers to the sickness that the ShadowClancats had.[11]
Meaning: Tigerstar unites RiverClan and ShadowClan to become TigerClan,[15] and Firestar follows suit with WindClan and ThunderClan to become LionClan.[16] The four Clans become two, and LionClan and TigerClan meet in battle.[17]BloodClan is the final enemy. Scourge kills Tigerstar, but in the end blood does not rule the forest; TigerClan and LionClan unite to drive out BloodClan.[18]
Meaning: The day will bring an unnecessary death.[22] Later, when Fireheart and Graystripe are returning to their home in ThunderClan, they are attacked by a RiverClan patrol, and in the confusion of the fight, Whiteclaw, a RiverClan warrior, falls to his death over the gorge when he attacks Graystripe.[23]
Omen: Clouds covering the full moon during a Gathering[24]
Meaning: Gatherings are a time of peace, and if there is any violence, StarClan sends clouds to cover the moon signifying their displeasure. This occurs at several Gatherings after the cats start fighting or saying rude things about each other.[24]
Reference:Fire and Ice, and several other books thereafter
Meaning: Due to the fact two kits die, and Silverstream dies giving birth to twokits, RiverClan believe this is a sign the kits must be in RiverClan.[27]
Omen: A wide, gray owl's wing sweeping across the ray of starlight and an owl swooping down. The owl leaves, along with the star and the sky is pitch black.[31]
Omen: While drinking from a stream, Firestar's reflection morphs into a roaring lion. Spottedleaf appears to Firestar and urges him to take heed of what he saw.[32]
