"And what about what we won? Did Mousefur, did any of 'em, die for nothing? It's an insult to their memory, that's what it is, to act like we lost everything." |
— Purdy to Dovewing about the outcome of the Great Battle in Dovewing's Silence, page 34 |
Purdy is a dark[7] brown[8] tabby[9] tom[10] with a gray muzzle,[3] and rheumy[11] amber eyes.[12]
Purdy was a ThunderClan elder under Firestar's and Bramblestar's leaderships in the lake territories. He was first met by Brambleclaw, Squirrelpaw, Crowpaw, Tawnypelt, Feathertail, and Stormfur while on their journey to find Midnight. Purdy assisted them while traveling through the Twolegplace, but would often get lost multiple times, despite the others still being fond of the elderly kittypet. He assisted them a second time while traveling to the Tribe of Rushing Water, while traveling he saved Hollypaw, Lionpaw, and Breezepaw from dogs. While a ThunderClan patrol searches for Sol, they reunited with Purdy, who had befriended Sol. He accepted the offer to join ThunderClan by Brambleclaw and became an elder alongside Mousefur and Longtail.
He quickly adjusts to Clan life by keeping the kits and apprentices distracted with his long stories from his adventures. After Longtail's death, Purdy helped Mousefur with her grief, and he was grief-stricken himself due to Mousefur dying in the Great Battle, with him wanting to plan her burial. He was joined in the elders' den by Graystripe, Sandstorm, and Millie, not being so alone. His sudden death was mourned by all of ThunderClan, especially Alderheart, who had wanted to help him desperately, and Purdy joined StarClan, reuniting with old friends.

Briarlight & Purdy - Mini Collector Figures[]
- Series 7
- Though separated by many moons of age, these two found friendship and comfort in each other in the days of the Great Storm. As a young cat, Briarlight was paralyzed from the waist down by a falling tree. While she initially struggled with not being able to contribute like other warriors, her eternally shining spirit proved that her worth came from just being her. Purdy was already old when he led the sun-drown questing cats on a somewhat rambling path through Twolegplace. When the Clans met him again later, even older now and clearly lonely, he was brought back to ThunderClan and given a true home telling long-winded stories and offering warm friendship to all around him.
- Sturdy mini figure of Briarlight and Purdy, approximately 7cm in height.
- Also included in a three-pack bundle with the rest of Series 7: Berryheart and Splashtail, and Onestar and Darktail.
- Approximate individual price is $12.99 USD, and the three-pack bundle is $38.97 USD.
Trivia[]
Author statements[]
- Vicky has said there is a chance Purdy will go to StarClan,[19] and Vicky strongly believes that he will reside there after his death.[20] However, Kate thinks that he might live just on the borders of StarClan's hunting grounds.[blog 1]
- Later on, Kate contradicted her statement, and confirmed that Purdy indeed went to StarClan.[4] This is proven true, as he appears in StarClan in Darkest Night.[1]
Mistakes[]
- Purdy has mistakenly been called black.[21]

- Dovewing: "It is."
- Dovewing's Silence, pages 246-247
- Squirrelflight: "I was explaining to Amberpaw that she can't bring wet moss into your den,"
