"The queen had suckled all [five kits] since Harepounce's death, and she looked like a ragged pelt draped over empty bones. But the kits had survived, and Rainfur was given the first choice of every piece of fresh-kill now that prey was returning to the forest."
— Narrator about Rainfur in Goosefeather's Curse, chapter 10

Rainfur is a speckled ginger-and-white she-cat with amber eyes.[3]

Rainfur was a ThunderClan warrior under Oakstar’s and Doestar’s leaderships in the forest territories. Her mate was Windflight, and she had three kits with him; Tawnyspots, Thrushpelt, and Dappletail. During the Great Hunger, Rainfur suckled Whitekit and Specklekit after their mother, Harepounce, died of starvation. After her death, Rainfur went to StarClan.

Goosefeather's Curse

Rainfur challenges Cloudberry during Goosepaw's apprentice ceremony when the old she-cat tells ThunderClan that Goosepaw becoming a medicine cat apprentice is his true path. She demands to know if StarClan had told her to do this, and Cloudberry responds that they did, explaining to her and the rest of the Clan that StarClan have chosen a special path for Goosepaw.
After the missing cats have returned, Rainfur agrees with Fallowsong after the she-cat gasps that she's very happy the patrol found them. Rainfur adds that they are lucky Pineheart went looking for them.
As leaf-bare begins to approach, Rainfur gave birth to three healthy kits; Dapplekit, Thrushkit, and Tawnykit. Cloudberry is said to have insisted on dealing with the birth of Rainfur's and Harepounce's kits alone, and sent Goosefeather to get soaked moss for bedding instead, obviously scared that he might see the kit's entire future unroll. Later, Rainfur and Flashnose are seen depositing a pigeon and two mice in a hole dug by Rockfall and Heronpaw. Cloudberry mentions that she is going to share some worms Rabbitleap dug up with Rainfur and her kits.
After Harepounce's death, Rainfur takes in Specklekit and Whitekit, and is mentioned by Cloudberry. She says that Specklekit had complained of a sore belly, but this was probably because she's gotten a good feed from Rainfur for the first time since her mother's death. She is said to be very, very skinny, but the kits have survived, and Rainfur is given the first choice of every piece of fresh-kill now that prey is returning.
