Robinkit, along with his siblings Woodkit and Dawnkit, are born to Mosspelt and Frogleap in RiverClan. On a hunting patrol, Frogleap tells Leopardfur that he wants to catch a carp for his kits, while Leopardfur agrees that carp tastes good. Frogleap drowns after being struck by a falling branch, causing Leopardfur to contemplate how to break the news to Mosspelt and the kits. While responding to Mosspelt's question on how StarClan could take him, Leopardfur mentions that Frogleap risked his life for his kits, wanting them to taste carp. Leopardfur agrees to help Mosspelt tell the kits of their father's demise. Leopardfur asks Primrosekit to go to the elders' den with her siblings. Robinkit asks if they can go as well, but Mosspelt ushers her kits closer, telling them that she needs to tell them something. Telling the kits that Frogleap has died, Robinkit asks if they can visit him in StarClan, but Mosspelt shakes her head sadly. Leopardfur goes to fetch the carp that Frogleap had caught as Mosspelt comforts her kits.

During a flood, Robinkit and Woodkit hang on to Mosspelt, but she cannot keep up with them as well as Dawnkit, and they are taken by the current. Crookedstar attempts to rescue the RiverClan kits, but is lost in the current as well. Later, Leopardfur spots him huddled around Robinkit, Woodkit, and Dawnkit, and Mudfur immediately tends to Robinkit. He commands Leopardfur and Stonefur to rub the other two kits' chests. Dawnkit vomits, but survives, and Mudfur signals Stonefur to stop as he realizes the other two kits are gone. Mosspelt takes extra-special care of Dawnkit now that she only has one kit, still mourning the loss of Robinkit and Woodkit. She fosters Featherkit and Stormkit to compensate. During her leadership ceremony, Leopardfur meets Frogleap, who tells her that Robinkit and Woodkit are safe with him, while the golden tabby she-cat apologizes for being unable to keep them alive.
