"It's because I can't rely on Twolegs. No cat should rely on Twolegs, you should know that better than any cat. What if the Twolegs stop bringing you fish, or the bins stop filling up? What will you do then?"
— Rook to Waffle in Thunder, page 244

Rook is a small black she-cat.[3]

History[]

In the A Starless Clan arc[]

Thunder[]

"You're a member of Riverstar's Clan, and he sent you here to learn how to save them. He must know how strong you are. And you're going back to your Clan to defeat this treacherous fox-heart, right?"
―Rook to Frostpaw Thunder (book), page 248
Rook is one of the first park cats that Nightheart and Frostpaw spot, noticing how she prefers to hunt instead of eating the food the Twoleg provides. She is initially hostile towards them, but she is surprised to learn that they know about Riverstar, the fabled warrior who saved their ancestors from vicious rogues. Scruff introduces Rook to Nightheart and Frostpaw, and Rook adds how they have heard about Riverstar from their kin. Rook later hunts with Waffle and Nightheart, scolding Waffle when he accidentally alerts a rat since she believes cats should hunt instead of relying on Twolegs. Despite her sharp words, Nightheart is touched by her kindness towards Waffle when they reminisce about his terrible Twolegs. Rook and Waffle comfort Frostpaw with gentle licks when she mourns the cat who attempted to kill her. Rook bids farewell to Nightheart, Frostpaw, Waffle, and Wasp when they return to the Clans.
