Runningbrook is a light gray tabby she-cat.

Runningbrook was a WindClan warrior under Tallstar's leadership in the forest territories. As an apprentice, Runningpaw was mentored by Tornear, and her Clan was sent into exile by Brokenstar and ShadowClan. Fireheart and Graystripe find the lost Clan and take them home. She earned her warrior name, Runningbrook, and bravely defended her Clan against TigerClan. She later participated in the battle against BloodClan as part of LionClan. She died after eating a poisoned rabbit.

History

In The Prophecies Begin arc

Fire and Ice

Runningpaw is a WindClan apprentice and her mentor is Tornear.

Forest of Secrets

Runningpaw is on a patrol with Deadfoot when Fireheart and Graystripe return from visiting their old friend, Ravenpaw. She and her Clanmates are alarmed when Fireheart makes the excuse of smelling ShadowClan on WindClan territory and following it, but Graystripe quickly amends, saying that it wasn't fresh enough to worry about. The patrol then heads back to camp, letting the two ThunderClan warriors pass through WindClan territory.

Rising Storm

She has now earned her warrior name, Runningbrook.

The Darkest Hour

Runningbrook is seen in the aftermath of the battle where TigerClan raids the WindClan camp, as an example of what they would do if they refused to join Tigerstar's Clan. She is one of the injured cats in the battle, and is seen lying beside Deadfoot, her fur hanging off her shoulder in multiple clumps.

Runningbrook dies after eating poisoned rabbits, and Onewhisker and Whitetail carry her body from Barkface's den.

Graystripe's Vow

Runningbrook is on a patrol with Webfoot and Onewhisker when Graystripe, Cloudtail, and Rainpaw head to WindClan territory to talk with Tallstar.

Trivia

Author statements

• Vicky has said she thinks Runningbrook died in the battle with BloodClan.
  • However, this is contradicted by her listing in the allegiances of Firestar's Quest and Graystripe's Vow, and her appearance in the latter.
  • This is again contradicted in Onestar's Confession where she is shown to die after eating poisoned prey.

Continuity

The following information is from sources considered non-canon or retconned.

• In Su Susann's "Missing Kits" on Vicky's Facebook, Runningbrook and Robinwing were the daughters of Aspenfall and Plumclaw, born around The Prophecies Begin. She was also described with green eyes. Pigeonwing and Runningbrook were mates and their children were Cranberrypaw, a bracken-colored she-cat with green eyes, Thistlepaw, a gray and white she-cat with long spiky fur and green eyes, and Gorsetail. Cranberrypaw died of sickness from poisoned rabbits in Moonrise and went to StarClan. Thistlepaw was killed fighting off a badger and also went to StarClan.
