Chapter description[]
- A few moons after the battle against BloodClan, Ravenpaw and Barley comfortably wake up on the farm as the Twolegs begin their routine for the day. Ravenpaw reflects how simple his life is compared to his days as a Clan cat. He reminisces how he could've rejoined ThunderClan following the battle against BloodClan and Tigerstar's death; however, Ravenpaw prefers his life with Barley.
- Ravenpaw and Barley begin their day by going for a walk, and Ravenpaw teaches Barley the hunting crouch. The dogs and Twolegs leave them alone for the most part as long as they stay clear, and the pair return to the barn after their walk. Leaf-bare arrives, covering the farm in a thick layer of snow, and Ravenpaw is startled when his tongue gets stuck on his usual drinking spot on top of the barn that had froze. While they clear out their nests, Barley comments on Ravenpaw's recurring sentimental thoughts about his former Clan, though he reassures Barley his place is with him at the farm.
- That night, Ravenpaw and Barley are awoken by scratching outside the barn. They peek outside to see a group of rogues; Willie introduces himself and asks for shelter as his mate, Minty, is close to giving birth. Ravenpaw eagerly invites them in, and he and Barley quickly gather up hay for nests and catch prey. Minty soon gives birth to four kits and names them Cloudy, Snowflake, Icicle and Sniff. As the group gathers around Minty and Ravenpaw is in awestruck, Barley grumbles to himself and glares at Snapper and Pounce.
