- Leafstar asks the mysterious visitors how they know Firestar. Their group leader denies that they are from any Clan, but recalls the moment Firestar and his mate, Sandstorm, were trying to form SkyClan.
- Sharpclaw accidentally embarrasses Leafstar, asks the two cats of their names. Stick, Cora, Shorty, and Coal tell Leafstar they are from the Twolegplace, interested in how Clan cats live. The SkyClan leader exchanges a wary glance with her deputy, admiring their courage.
- The visiting cats ask Leafstar if they could learn from their way of living. Sharpclaw replies instead of Leafstar, telling them they could do as they please. The SkyClan cats notice tension rising as Sharpclaw hardens his tone against his leader. As Leafstar begins to address Sharpclaw, a wail from the medicine cat den rings through the camp. Cora turns to Leafstar and asks if she could learn about herbs and treatment from Echosong. She agrees and asks Tinycloud to escort the stranger.
- Leafstar invites the remaining loners on a training session with the apprentices. Billystorm asks Leafstar if there should be more hunting patrols set up now that there are more mouths to feed. Leafstar agrees and asks the tom if he would be willing to lead one. Billystorm refuses and reminds her that he has to supervise Snookpaw's training. She apologizes and calls on Patchfoot to lead a hunting patrol with Cherrytail, Shrewtooth, and Rockshade. Rockshade complains, and Billystorm scolds him for disrespecting his leader's wishes. Rockshade and Cherrytail mock the daylight-warrior as they walk past him.
- Sharpclaw splits the training cats into two groups, one led by Sparrowpelt, and another led by Waspwhisker. Sharpclaw explains the rules for their training session. Leafstar watches the two groups strategizing against each other and recalls her time as a loner. Sharpclaw releases the group and they spring towards one another. A few of the loners observe the match and comment on the strategies used. Leafstar notices Snookpaw sneak around the fighting cats and hop onto the tree without any cat noticing, winning the game.
- Sharpclaw starts another training session and explains a new set of rules. Leafstar asks the loners if they would like to participate, but they ask her if she would join too. Leafstar agrees and joins the new session. She feels a rush as she prepares for Sharpclaw's signal.
- As her deputy releases the cats, she flings herself at her Clanmates, as well as observing them. Petalnose had taken the lead, but fell and dropped the objective, a feather, in front of Leafstar. She takes the feather and jumps branch to branch. Leafstar notices Sharpclaw eagerly waiting for her to fight him, but she slips between his paws and lands on the tallest branch, winning the game.
