"We all know that RiverClan is in trouble. You have no leader, and StarClan doesn't seem to be helping. You've been relying on your medicine cat to lead you, and it's not working. She's been so busy trying to hold the Clan together that she didn't even know how much catmint she had in her herb store. If she had, Rowankit wouldn't have died. StarClan only knows what else has been neglected. Face it. You're a mess. Why don't you accept help until you find a real leader and sort yourselves out?" |

Chapter description[]
- Mothwing demands Tigerstar to explain why he and his warriors are in their camp. Tigerstar calmly insists he is here to help, though Splashtail sharply rebukes that claim. Mothwing demands for Tigerstar and his cats to leave, though Tigerstar instead asks Owlnose why he isn't taking charge of his Clan. Splashtail interrupts Owlnose's attempts to explain by once again insisting Tigerstar should leave. Tigerstar overhears Splashtail refer to Owlnose by his warrior name, and he comments why the brown tabby hasn't received his nine lives from StarClan yet. He asks where Fidgetflake is and Mothwing snaps that he's gone home. Tigerstar is confused why Fidgetflake's attempts to persuade StarClan to grant Owlnose his nine lives didn't work, though Splashtail again aggressively demands Tigerstar to leave or fight. Still speaking calmly, Tigerstar explains to RiverClan how they are floundering without proper leadership, citing Mothwing's forgotten catmint supply that would have prevented Rowankit's death. He asks for RiverClan to allow him to temporarily lead them until they can find a solution.
- A majority of RiverClan's warriors are prepared to fight when Harelight steps forward, asking for his Clanmates to trust Tigerstar. Icewing agrees, mentioned how Tigerstar welcomed her, Harelight, and Mothwing when the impostor forced Mistystar to exile them from RiverClan. She pleads for Mothwing to remember Tigerstar's hospitality, though Mothwing explains these circumstances are different since Tigerstar is taking RiverClan by force. Tigerstar disagrees, insisting all he wants is to help and advise RiverClan peacefully, though Duskfur and Mallownose mock his intentions. As RiverClan prepares for the inevitable battle, Tigerstar calls for Stonewing and more of his warriors emerge from the reeds into the camp. Shimmerpelt asks for Owlnose to give his word to begin the fight, though Owlnose is still uncertain. With the tensions rising, Frostpaw whispers to Mothwing that maybe she should speak to Tigerstar alone to dissuade him, but Duskfur attacks Cloverfoot and the battle begins.
