Chapter description[]
- Mistystar and Reedwhisker huddle together as though it were a cold leaf-bare despite the warmth of StarClan's hunting grounds. Reedwhisker suggests nervously to his mother that they have to warn RiverClan of impending danger. However, the former leader states that she has tried and it is not possible. Reedwhisker shares his desperation with Mistystar, ignoring his prey-rich surroundings to plead that their beloved Clan is in danger.
- Mistystar remains solemn, but glares at him when the former deputy suggests showing any form of desperation. The she-cat asks him the question if he really wanted the other Clans to know RiverClan's vulnerability. Instead, she leaves her faith with their Clanmates as Reedwhisker points out the changing warrior code. Mistystar thinks to herself about how inner quarrels can tear a Clan apart. She remains in her thoughts as Reedwhisker leaves. The former leader continues to question if indeed RiverClan would fall apart without a leader or deputy, likening the situation to a reed bed being destroyed in a storm.
