Slant is seen in the Tribe of Endless Hunting, along with Fall, and Rain. It is mentioned that Jayfeather has spoken to Slant and Fall before, when he last visited the Tribe of Endless Hunting.
Bluestar: "The Clans will make their own choices. I can do no more."
Slant: "But the prophecies helped, didn't they?"
Bluestar: "Yes, Spottedleaf recognized the flaming star that lead me to Firestar."
Owl Feather: "She used her gift well. All along, it has been Firestar's kin who hold the last hope of the Clans in their paws."
Slant: "What about the fourth? When will they find the fourth cat?"

Slant and Half Moon travel to meet with Owl Feather, and Broken Shadow, two more ancient cats. As soon as they arrive, two Clan cats, Bluestar and Spottedleaf, join the group. Although StarClan and the Tribe of Endless Hunting do not normally meet, they have decided to meet up to discuss the forthcoming battle with the Dark Forest, and the possible end of the Clans of the lake. As Owl Feather, Spottedleaf, and Bluestar argue, Slant rasps that their time is running out. Bluestar says that she can do no more, and the Clans make their own choices. To this, Slant asks if the prophecies helped them. Bluestar replies yes, and goes on to say that Spottedleaf was the one to guide her to Firestar. Slant seems very anxious and worries that the Clan cats will not find the fourth cat in time. As Midnight and Rock arrive, their conversation drifts towards the end of the Clans. Towards the end of their discussion, Slant asks if the Clans are to fight alone in the final battle. Half Moon vows to fight alongside Jayfeather, and Broken Shadow promises to fight alongside her son, Fallen Leaves. Owl Feather vows to fight against the darkness, alongside Jagged Lightning, her mate, and her kits. Bluestar also vows to fight, with ThunderClan. Half Moon says that the Clans are not alone, and they will stand with them as they always have.
Kate envisions Slant to be a splotchy tabby with a pointed face and large ears.[blog 1]

In Su Susann's "Missing Kits" on Vicky's Facebook, Slant's full name was Shadows that Slant at Dusk.[4] Slant is also a yellow tom with orange splotchy stripes and green eyes.[5]
