Chapter description[]
- As Squirrelflight and Leafpool race through the forest towards the Sisters' camp, Squirrelflight frets about her dream and its implications for Moonlight's kits. Leafpool also adds that she had a dream of wounded kits, sensing they were Moonlight's. They hear a wail from the Sisters' camp. In the clearing, Snow tells Leafpool and Squirrelflight that Moonlight is currently kitting but something is wrong. Leafpool rushes into the birthing den to help Moonlight. The large queen has already given birth to one kit, though the others are stuck. Leafpool orders the others to fetch raspberry leaves and ragweed to provide Moonlight strength; Snow encourages Moonlight to lap up the pulps that Leafpool chewed. While they wait for the herbs to work, Squirrelflight tells Hawk that the Clans are coming. As dawn approaches, Moonlight finally has the strength to continue. Another she-kit is born, though she is not breathing. Leafpool manages to resuscitate her back to life. The final kit is born, a tom-kit. Squirrelflight's happiness that they saved Moonlight and her kits is short-lived; the Clans have arrived.
