- Tigerstar, Mistystar, Harestar, and Bramblestar arrive into the Sisters' camp. Realizing that the Clans want the Sisters' territory, Squirrelflight urges Moonlight to get her newborn kits to safety. Moonlight initially refuses until Squirrelflight orders Leafpool, Snow, Tempest, and Hawk to get Moonlight and the kits somewhere safe before fighting. They agree to go to a nearby cave while the ThunderClan deputy decides to bide them some time by speaking with the Clan leaders. However, Crowfeather accuses her of plotting with the enemy. Flurry, Furze, Creek, and Sunrise angrily face off against the Clan warriors, and Flurry refuses to tell the Clans that Moonlight has just given birth in hopes of them backing down. Tensions continue to rise between the two groups. Tigerstar claims that Squirrelflight is disloyal to ThunderClan, and Breezepelt brings up how she lied about raising Leafpool's kits. Both sides refuse to back down, and Sunrise attacks Harestar.
- The clearing erupts into battle. The Sisters, while outnumbered, fight fiercely to defend Moonlight. Squirrelflight is horrified by the battle, and she convinces Twigbranch to help her stop the fight. While Squirrelflight searches for Bramblestar, Sunrise calls a retreat, and Tigerstar orders his warriors to give chase. Squirrelflight checks on Flurry, who is lying ominously still. Bramblestar confronts her for caring about the enemy. However, Squirrelflight argues that the Sisters are fighting to protect Moonlight and her kits, and she and Leafpool had a dream about Moonlight's kits in danger. Realizing that the Sisters must have fled to the nearby cave, Squirrelflight and Bramblestar are prepared to stop the fight when Flurry abruptly attacks the ThunderClan leader. Squirrelflight's prepared to help her mate when Twigbranch yowls that the kits are trapped. Flurry flees towards her fellow sisters. Bramblestar wonders if Squirrelflight was going to let Flurry kill him, but Squirrelflight fervently insists she wasn't. Her mate ignores her as they track the others.
- They locate the other Clans facing off against a sheer cliff with the Sisters defending a rugged cave entrance supported by boulders and fallen branches. Moonlight refuses to surrender so Tigerstar orders Cloverfoot and Scorchfur to dig the top of the cave to flush them out. Bramblestar mentions that the kits have been born, much to Tigerstar's surprise, but Moonlight yowls for the Sisters to attack. The cave begins to collapse, and Squirrelflight rushes inside to save her sister and the kits. Just as they manage to pass the last kit to Hawk, the main branch supporting the ceiling collapses. Squirrelflight cries out for her sister just as everything fades to darkness.
