Below contains in-depth information for chapter thirty of Squirrelflight's Hope. If you are looking for a shorter summary of the entire book, please check the main article.
Squirrelflight sits at the foot of the Great Oak, remembering the last Gathering where the leaders had argued about the Sisters. Since then, Moonlight and Leafpool had died, and SkyClan had moved to their new territory. Squirrelflight asks Hawkwing, who is sitting beside her, how Moonlight's kits are doing. Hawkwing replies that they'll be ready to travel soon. Squirrelflight says that Violetshine will miss them, and Hawkwing agrees that she'll miss the kits, but not the Sisters. Squirrelflight asks if the Sisters showed SkyClan around the territory, and Hawkwing replies that they did, probably because they respect SkyClan for not attacking them like the other Clans. Squirrelflight asks him if he thinks the Clans will ever admit that they were wrong to attack the Sisters, but Hawkwing says that it's probably best forgotten.
Leafstar steps forward and announces that SkyClan has moved into the new territory without issue so far. Scorchfur asks if the Sisters have left yet, and Leafstar angrily replies that they're letting Moonlight's kits nurse after their mother was murdered. Strikestone argues that it was a battle, not a murder, but Leafstar says that they could've just waited instead of fighting. Tigerstar says that the Sisters can stay until the kits are weaned, as they're no longer a threat to the Clans. Squirrelflight argues that they never were, but Tigerstar tells her that they managed to use her against her Clan. Squirrelflight says that that's not true, but Tigerstar asks why she told the Sisters about the attack patrol. Squirrelflight retorts that she was rightfully worried about Moonlight's kits. To Squirrelflight's surprise, Bramblestar says that Squirrelflight would never betray her Clan, and that they can't change what happened so they should move on.
Bramblestar continues, saying that they should honor Leafpool. Willowshine, Kestrelflight, and Jayfeather begin to chant her name, and the rest of the Clans join in. Squirrelflight notices Crowfeather staring ahead in silence, and wonders if he still loves Leafpool. She pushes the thought away as Bramblestar nods toward her, saying that his deputy has a message from StarClan. Tigerstar asks how that's possible, but Bramblestar just tells him to listen. Squirrelflight stands up and tells the Clans about how she spent time in StarClan after the landslide, and Firestar told her that the Clans must turn toward StarClan, not away. Emberfoot and Mallownose complain about how StarClan doesn't always answer them, but Bramblestar says that StarClan knows what they're doing. Shimmerpelt asks what happens if StarClan doesn't answer, and Squirrelflight replies that they just have to try harder to listen, and Puddleshine and Willowshine agree.
The Gathering breaks up and Squirrelflight hangs back, not wanting to leave yet. Bramblestar stops at the edge of the clearing and calls to Squirrelflight, asking if she's coming. Squirrelflight tells him that she needs a moment to remember Leafpool, and Bramblestar pads forward to stand beside her. The tabby tom agrees, telling her that he doesn't know what he would've done if she'd died. Squirrelflight says that she knows he never would have let his Clan down. Bramblestar tells her to promise him that they'll never argue again, and Squirrelflight says that he has to trust her. Bramblestar replies that he's sorry he ever doubted her. He looks up and points out a new star. Squirrelflight follows his gaze and asks if it's Leafpool. Bramblestar answers that he doesn't know, but he knows Leafpool is watching over them. Squirrelflight says that Leafpool will always be watching over the Clan.
