Chapter description

Squirrelpaw and Leafpaw wait excitedly for Dustpelt and Cinderpelt, their mentors, to finishing speaking with Firestar and Sandstorm so they can go explore ThunderClan’s territory. Squirrelpaw reassures her sister they will be a warrior and medicine cat soon. Leafpaw reminds her they had only just recieved their apprentice names. Squirrelpaw comments she’d like to be called Squirrelflame or Squirreldash, but eventually be called Squirrelstar. Squirrelpaw eagerly says her kits will rule the forest, and Leafpaw adds that she will be the best medicine cat. Leafpaw tells her it’s obvious they will be the two most powerful cats to ever live.

Their mentors finishing speaking, but Firestar and Sandstorm pad over to Squirrelpaw and Leafpaw instead. Squirrelpaw asks her father if he will name her Squirreltail. He responds with pride shining in his eyes that she must complete her apprentice training first. Squirrelpaw frets Leafpaw will get her medicine cat name before she gets her warrior name. Sandstorm tells her daughters that as long as they have each other, they will both stand tall. Squirrelpaw promises her mother wholeheartedly that she and Leafpaw will always stick together. Leafpaw adds that they will always help each other and nothing will ever drive them apart.
