Chapter description[]
- Stripestar is by himself, reminiscing on how easy life had been for StormClan this leaf-bare. When he sees Fernwhisper's kits playing, he wonders if they are the storm that Stoneteller had mentioned, and he quickly distracts himself from remembering his and Galestar's litter. He plays with the kits until he hears a rumble that is coming closer and closer to the Twoleg nest: a monster. The Clan gathers as they try to make sense of what is happening. Galestar returns to the nest with a hunting patrol, explaining how the monster and the Twolegs in it are heading straight towards them.
- Following Flash's instructions, Stripestar and Galestar are able to oversee what is happening outside from a ledge. Stripestar is alarmed to see five Twolegs hopping out of the monster, carrying large objects with them. Despite the fear, he feels determined to fight for the den—StormClan's home now, to be more precise. When Flash is unable to tell Galestar what the Twolegs want, Stripestar accuses him of not warning the Clan in time, to which Flash insists he had not known Twolegs would come back to the abandoned den.
- The Twolegs enter the den, unaware of the Clan of cats living here in their absence. StormClan faces them, spreading out at the entrance and facing the intruders. As soon as they notice the cats and the state of the den, the Twolegs begin yelling in shock and anger. Remembering Flash's method back in the apple forest, Stripestar makes himself appear as friendly and non-threatening as possible, but his attempts are not welcomed by the Twolegs. They retaliate when the cats leap at them, spraying the cats with liquid. Unable to fight back, StormClan is forced to flee, losing their home once again.
