Chapter description

During a leaf-fall night, Pebblenose wakes Galestar and asks to speak with her, confronting her about her secret meetings with Stripestar. Although Galestar denies any romantic attachment and cites the meetings as purely strategic, Pebblenose reminds her that the code forbids cats from taking mates from other Clans. Galestar promises the alliance will end once ThunderClan recovers, though Pebblenose remains unconvinced.

The next night, Galestar slips away once again to meet Stripestar at Fourtrees. He brings her fresh-kill and thanks her for helping ThunderClan recover. The conversation turns bittersweet as both leaders acknowledge the alliance has served its purpose, though neither want to end their meetings. Stripestar admits he might want a new mate someday, and Galestar feels similarly. They part ways, agreeing to meet up as friends, though Galestar worries about what Pebblenose will think of her decision.
