Chapter description[]
- Stripestar and Hazelfrond attempt to rebuild a den in the charred remnants of StormClan's old camp, only for their construction to collapse. Frustrated and disheartened, the warriors argue over materials while Galestar and Stripestar reflect on whether they returned too soon. Despite the snowdrops that once inspired them, the camp remains inhospitable, prey is scarce, and the forest shows no signs of recovery.
- Galestar voices her doubts, but Stripestar insists they must persevere. Realizing they cannot continue alone, he suggests asking the other Clans for help. Though reluctant, Galestar agrees, and they decide to split up, with Galestar approaching ShadowClan and Stripestar asking RiverClan.
- Stripestar travels alone to RiverClan territory and is met with suspicion from a patrol before being led to Birchstar. Though wary, she listens to his request for shared prey. She accuses him of arrogance and poor leadership, and refuses to support StormClan's survival after their defiance of StarClan's will.
- Back at camp, he finds Galestar waiting. Galestar reveals that Snakestar insulted her and dismissed their need. Galestar admits she threatened to leave the forest entirely, shocking Stripestar. She explains that Pinebrush followed her and asked if she had been serious, prompting both leaders to wonder if the idea is a good one. Galestar worries about the idea, uncertain if all of their Clanmates will agree, but she and Stripestar agree to explain their idea the next day.
