| "Even as the moons pass, you will never forget. It will drive you each day to serve ThunderClan—to keep it independent, and strong. If you should father more kits, they too will feel a pull to protect their Clan no matter what—though they will not understand why. And you will never tell them. This will be your burden, Stripestar. This will be your punishment." |
| — Thunderstar to Stripestar in StormClan's Folly, pages 441-442 |
Stripebark is a big[11] brown tabby tom with amber eyes,[3] torn right ear,[12] and a speckled white muzzle.[13]
Stripebark was the joint-leader of StormClan alongside his mate, Galestar. He was born in ThunderClan alongside his brother, Grassfoot. As an apprentice, Stripepaw befriended Galepaw of WindClan at a Gathering, and the two shared their aspirations of the discoveries beyond the Highstones. He eventually became a warrior named Stripebark, and he later succeeded Redstar as ThunderClan's leader, earning the name Stripestar. Following the death of his mate Fogdrift in battle, Stripestar and Galestar established an alliance between their Clans to secure hunting rights at Sunningrocks, and their bond soon morphed into love. Determined to be together, Stripestar devised the idea of StormClan to unite their Clans. However, StarClan vehemently disapproved of their plan and revoked their nine lives. StormClan struggled to coexist in separate camps, and Galestar delivered three stillborn kits.
Despite the death of his kits, Stripestar continued to further his dream to establish StormClan, and StormClan left the forest to find a new home. For moons, StormClan wandered countryside but were frequently driven out by Twolegs, predators, lack of prey, and the deaths of their Clanmates. Not wanting to diminish his Clanmates' faith in his dream, Stripestar hid his vision about a fierce storm with a mountain in the distance, causing a rift between him and Galestar. StormClan eventually settled at the sun-drown-place, where Galestar gave birth to Pebblekit, Thrushkit, and Fogkit.
During their ill-fated journey, Galestar quickly lost faith in her mate after realizing that Stripestar hid his vision from her. The two were never able to repair the bond that had been broken by distrust and stress. While evacuating their camp during a severe storm, Stripestar and StormClan were accidentally separated from Galestar and the kits, and StormClan was forced to leave them behind. Upon their return to the forest, Stripestar was demoted to Stripebark and the Clan's leadership was given to Whitestep. Stripebark was forced to serve ThunderClan faithfully for the remainder of his life. After his death, Stripebark faded from existence since the memory of StormClan was long gone. It was only generations later when Galestar told StormClan's story to StarClan that Stripestar reappeared, along with their forgotten StormClan Clanmates.

StormClan's Folly[]
- "I made a dreadful mistake when Galestar and I created StormClan, I am sorry for it—sorrier than you will ever know. I ignored StarClan when they warned us to turn back. When I think of it now, I can hardly believe my own folly! I loved her so much, I thought nothing else mattered. I thought we could bind two Clans together with nothing more than that love. But now...Now she is gone. Our kits are gone. I cannot tell you how that feels. But I know what it means—StormClan was never meant to be. It was doomed right from the beginning. I have nothing left to offer you. Instead, I ask for your mercy. Allow me to return with you to the forest. Allow me to beg forgiveness for ThunderClan at the Moonstone. Allow me to plead with StarClan to take you back. And after that...I will leave you. I will do no more harm to you, or to any cat. It will be over."
- ―Stripestar to ThunderClan, the last remains of StormClan StormClan's Folly, page 403
- At Stripepaw's first Gathering, the Clan leaders debate about SkyClan's disappearance a year prior. He slips away to get a drink and meets Galepaw, a WindClan apprentice. He and Galepaw muse about what life would be like beyond the Highstones, with Stripepaw believing there must be other cats out there. Stripepaw admits that he really likes talking to Galepaw, though the pair are separated by their mentors when the Gathering ends.
- Seasons later, Stripestar is now leader of ThunderClan with Tinyclaw as his deputy. His mate Fogdrift wonders if attacking WindClan is wise, though she agrees to stand behind his decision. ThunderClan confronts WindClan on the moor; Stripestar accuses WindClan of stealing prey, though Galestar denies it. A battle breaks out, though it abruptly ends when Galestar accidentally kills Fogdrift. Stripestar grieves for his mate. A few days later, Galestar brings Stripestar a rabbit to apologize. Stripestar instead blames himself for Fogdrift's death, as he felt he had no choice but to attack WindClan due to the scarcity of prey in ThunderClan's land. Stripestar devises a plan to benefit both of their Clans: they will attack Sunningrocks to claim it from RiverClan for both of their Clans to share hunting rights. ThunderClan and WindClan secure Sunningrocks in battle the following morning. Birchstar and Snakestar are critical of their alliance and their close bond.
- In leaf-fall, Stripestar and Galestar continue to meet at the Fourtrees despite their alliance ending. Despite agreeing to remain friends, the pair eventually become mates. Six moons later, Galestar is expecting their kits, and Stripestar and Galestar agree to tell their Clans. However, Stripestar proposes the idea of StormClan to unite both of their Clans, framing it as a necessary action with RiverClan and ShadowClan still flustered about Sunningrocks. The two leaders inform their Clanmates at the Fourtrees the following morning. Although initially skeptical, their Clanmates interpret Galestar's pregnancy as a sign of StarClan's approval. Three days later, Stripestar, Galestar, Kestrelwing, Stoneflower, and Goldenleaf travel to the Moonstone to propose their idea to StarClan. However, the Clan founders instead scold Stripestar and Galestar for their foolish idea. When Stripestar and Galestar agree to part ways with StarClan, StarClan revokes both of their nine lives.
- Galestar introduces StormClan at the Gathering, though RiverClan and ShadowClan are outraged that Stripestar and Galestar are continuing to go through with their idea despite StarClan's disapproval. Stripestar insists they just need more time to convince StarClan, though the Gathering abruptly ends. StormClan settles in ThunderClan's camp, though cats quickly complain about the lack of space and shortage of prey. A fire ignites in the forest, though Stripestar and Galestar struggle to lead a cohesive evacuation. They head to WindClan's old camp on the moor, though Galestar gives birth to three stillborn kits. StormClan's attempts to settle in a single camp result in squabbles amongst the warriors, and the fire leads to a shortage of prey. Stripestar and Galestar ask Birchstar and Snakestar for assistance to no avail. Recalling their earlier conversation as apprentices, Stripestar and Galestar decide to lead StormClan to find a new territory beyond the Highstones. StormClan leaves the forest in greenleaf.
- StormClan's journey faces numerous challenges initially. While crossing a Thunderpath, Kestrelwing gets separated from Stripestar and is killed by a monster. Rosebush later falls to his death while they cross the mountains. They meet the Tribe of Rushing Water, and Stoneteller warns Stripestar and Galestar to not end their journey at the "lake without end" and to heed the warning of a fish with legs. Stripestar believes StarClan has abandoned them but perhaps the Tribe of Endless Hunting will aid them instead. After leaving the mountains, StormClan spends the night besides a strange pool next to a distant wooded valley. Stripestar experiences a dream about a dangerous storm, a gull against a dark sky, and an orange rock with five legs, though he insists to Galestar that it wasn't important. However, he later tells his deputy Tinyclaw about the dream. The Clan is chased away by the pond by a dog the following morning. By leaf-bare, the Clan settles in an abandoned Twoleg nest. Stripestar and Galestar rekindle their bond by finally discussing their grief over their lost litter. While playing with Rainkit, Lightningkit, and Windkit, Stripestar and the rest of StormClan are chased out of the den by Twolegs.
- Stripestar and Galestar begin to disagree about their course of direction, with Stripestar wanting to avoid the mountains due to his dreams. They eventually settle by a marsh. Galestar grows especially frustrated when Stripestar seems to prioritize his former ThunderClan cats instead of being an united Clan. She finally snaps at him, though Stripestar insists that he knows he can trust his former ThunderClan Clanmates as he's known them since he was a kit. She attempts to convince Stripestar that they should leave the swamp, as every cat is miserable, and Galestar snaps at Stripestar and Tinyclaw for always shutting down her ideas. Two days later, their camp is attacked by a weasel-like creature from the swamp, prompting StormClan to finally move on. They head towards the fox-headed mountain and settle on top. However, two moons later, StormClan is forced to leave their mountain home when greenleaf dries up the streams and results in scarce prey.
- After several failed attempts to find a new home, StormClan convinces their leaders to return to the forest. On their way back, however, Galestar learns she is expecting kits again. Goldenleaf's dream from Kestrelwing prompts StormClan to follow the setting sun in search of their new home at the lake that never ends. They arrive at the sun-drown-place at leaf-fall, though the hunting is poor and both Stripestar and Galestar worry for the safety of their litter. They agree that StormClan should leave before the kits are born. Stripestar and Tumbletail attempt to hunt in a nearby carrionplace and are nearly captured by Twolegs. Stripestar makes Tumbletail promise not to tell their Clanmates about what happened. Galestar gives birth to their kits: Pebblekit, Thrushkit, and Fogkit.
- While hunting with Tumbletail, Swiftwing, and Roughpelt, Stripestar discovers an orange stone with five legs that smells like a fish buried in the sand. Stripestar is suddenly reminded of his dream and Stoneteller's warning, and he realizes they must leave the sun-drown-place immediately before the oncoming storm. Stripestar attempts to explain his dream, but Galestar is furious that he withheld it from her for so long. Furious at his lies and deception, Galestar refuses to leave the sun-drown-place until their kits are strong enough. However, Galestar agrees to leave as the storm progressively strengthens, and StormClan shelters for two days underneath a rocky outcrop. They attempt to leave the sun-drown-place during a break in the storm, but the storm soon strengthens again, and StormClan becomes separated from Galestar and the kits. Stripestar frantically searches for his family, though Tinyclaw and Spotnose encourage him to wait until the storm passes. In the morning, Stripestar orders several search patrols to scour the rocky slope. However, he is convinced by his warriors to lead them back to the forest, though Stripestar feels guilty for leaving his family behind.
- At the abandoned Twoleg nest, the warriors of StormClan convince Stripestar to give up his dream about StormClan now that Galestar is gone. Stripestar wonders if any of them truly believed in StormClan, though he relents, and he allows the former WindClan cats to reform their Clan once they arrive at the forest. He convinces them to stick together as one, though the WindClan cats leave in the middle of the night a quarter-moon later. Stripestar announces to ThunderClan, the last remnants of StormClan, that he made a mistake creating StormClan and will step down from leadership. However, Whitestep convinces him to remain leader until they arrive at the forest. They arrive in early leaf-bare, though they are unsure at the status of their former territory. At the Gathering, Birchstar and Snakestar agree to leave StormClan's fate in StarClan's paws.
- ThunderClan settles on the slopes of Highstones temporarily, and they begin to recruit loners to fill in their ranks. At the Moonstone, Stripestar pleads with StarClan for forgiveness and to restore ThunderClan without him. Instead of exile, the founders insist that Stripestar will remain a loyal warrior and dedicate the rest of his life to serving ThunderClan. However, they must never speak of StormClan ever again. Thunderstar reverts his name to Stripebark, and the ThunderClan founder appoints Whitestep to be their new leader. ThunderClan eventually reclaims their territory from RiverClan, including Sunningrocks. Privately, Stripebark vows to never forget Galestar and to never forgive himself for losing her.
Ivypool's Heart[]
- "We almost hadn't existed. We've been part of everything, but barely ourselves."
- ―Stripestar Ivypool's Heart, page 355
- After entering the Star Tree, Galestar tells Whistlepaw, Ivypool, Icewing, and Rootspring about her history with Stripestar. Stripestar was the leader of ThunderClan, and he and Galestar, the leader of WindClan, fell in love. They decided to unite their Clans into StormClan so they could be together. Eventually, StormClan left the forest after the other Clans blamed them for the shortage of prey, though Stripestar and Galestar began arguing more and more as tensions in the group rose.
- Despite their arguments, Galestar soon gave birth to their three kits by the sun-drown-place, but Stripestar's Clanmates encouraged him that they must find a permanent camp before leaf-bare. During a storm, Galestar and her kits became separated from the others. Galestar, hurt by Stripestar's lack of effort in rescuing them, ultimately puts the blame on Stripestar for not finding and eventually abandoning them. Whistlepaw explains how she saw this in her vision, and that Stripestar only left because his Clanmates convinced him to. Galestar, however, is bitter and wants to know why Stripestar did not come back to find them. Galestar and her kits were eventually rescued by the wildcats. At some point, Stripestar and the rest of StormClan died, leaving their spirits to be forgotten forever.
- Later, Icewing and Ivypool convince Galestar to return to StarClan to find Stripestar to force StarClan to remember StormClan. As Galestar begins to tell her story to the StarClan cats, Stripestar and the others' spirits begin to manifest, and Galestar angrily confronts Stripestar for abandoning her and their kits. Stripestar insists how StormClan returned to the sun-drown-place after the storm to search for them, and Stripestar mourned for his family for the rest of his life. Galestar admits that she had moved on from Stripestar, and fell in love with Bound Hunt, one of the wildcats. He and Galestar reconcile, and Stripestar hopes that StormClan's memories in StarClan will help save all the Clans. While Stripestar is hurt that Galestar moved on, he is also relieved that she had not died in the storm and their children got to live happy and healthy lives.

- His kits Pebble Lunge and Fog Nuzzle resemble him.[30]
Quotes[]
- "A Clan that combines the best of ThunderClan with the best of WindClan. We already have a name for it. I have dreamed it for many nights now. Our new Clan, will be StormClan! Together, StormClan will be bigger and stronger than we ever were apart. We will be the greatest Clan ever to hunt in this forest! And if you doubt that StarClan has approved our plan, how do you explain this? We are about to welcome the very first kits who will ever be born into StormClan!"
- ―Stripestar forming StormClan StormClan's Folly, page 66
- "Her mate sat upright, his brown pelt aflame in the light of sunhigh. His amber eyes gleamed with excitement and determination, undaunted by the task ahead. He didn't care about the danger. He only cared about the dream of what lay beyond it."
- ―Galestar's thoughts about Stripestar StormClan's Folly, page 126
- Galestar: "What about Stoneteller's prophecy? The darkness in our future. The storm. That doesn't sound good, does it?"
- Stripestar: "You're forgetting legacy. We can weather any storm. And a legacy...surely that means kits. How else could our actions 'echo through the ages'? Those were Stoneteller's words. If you ask me, that's a future that we should walk toward. Run toward! No matter what stands in our way. Besides, if we believe in our dream...together...who cares what any other cat may say?"
- StormClan's Folly, page 176
- «Some of our Clanmates are afraid to keep going. But I'm not afraid of that. I'm only afraid to stop.»
- —Stripestar's thoughts during StormClan's journey StormClan's Folly, page 190
- Stripestar: "Let me explain. It was the night we slept beside the pool of water—the one the medicine cats told us was...special. I had a dream that wasn't a dream. It was a warning, I'm sure of it. Now the dream's coming true, and—"
- Galestar: "Wait. I remember that night. I knew something was wrong. And I asked you what had happened, but you wouldn't answer me. Now you're trying to tell me you had a dream that warned us something terrible was going to happen. You had it moons ago. And you kept it to yourself?"
- StormClan's Folly, pages 332-333
- "I've never lost my sense of guilt. Our cats had trusted us, and they followed us to their death, all because Stripestar and I wanted to be together. Besides, I have to admit that Stripestar and I weren't handling things well. With the extra stress of the journey, and the number of decisions we had to make every day, we found ourselves arguing more and more, in private at first, and then in front of our Clanmates. With all the tension, I started to wonder if we'd made a mistake when we left the forest. But then something happened that made it impossible to turn back: I found I was expecting kits."
- ―Galestar about StormClan's journey Ivypool's Heart, page 223
- Icewing: "You sound angry."
- Galestar: "And why shouldn't I be angry? Then and now? Stripestar had sided with his Clan over me, even though I knew better, and because I didn't want to fight about it, I gave in. But in the end, Stripestar's decision led to disaster, and he left me and my kits behind to suffer for his mistake."
- Ivypool's Heart, pages 226-227
- "I loved you, Galestar. I still love you, and I would never have done anything to harm you. I would have given anything to have saved you and our kits. But the storm would have swept us all away if I had stayed. I had to lead the other StormClan cats to safety. We never wanted to leave you. We came back as soon as the storm died down, but by then you were gone. I knew you were dead, and I couldn't bear for you to have died that way. For the rest of my life...For the rest of my life I mourned for you and our family. All of us, all of StormClan, tried so hard to find you."
- ―Stripestar to Galestar Ivypool's Heart, pages 353-354
- "It's hard to know that you loved another cat. I loved you so much, and I never got to see my kits grow up. But I'm glad, too. I couldn't bear the thought that you and our kits had suffered and died because I couldn't save you. None of StormClan could."
