- Lionblaze leads Foxpaw and Icepaw to collect brambles, feeling numb and guilty after the accident with the snake. The two apprentices tremble at the rustle of every leaf, and Lionblaze notes that they were right. Icepaw is dumbfounded that the snake and Sol were in the camp, and Foxpaw asks if the snake was summoned by Sol, but Lionblaze dismisses him, adding that the snake could've easily bitten Sol instead, and Foxpaw replies that he wishes it had.
- The three cats approach a bramble thicket and start detaching the stems, whereas the two apprentices stand before it, nervous if there are snakes in it. However, they soon stomach their fear and begin working. Foxpaw stops suddenly, declaring that he smells WindClan, and Icepaw says she smells ShadowClan and RiverClan. Foxpaw is scared and demands to know if they're being invaded again, but Lionblaze says he doesn't know and orders the two to get behind him. They watch as Blackstar, Leopardstar, and Onestar emerge into the open followed by Reedwhisker, Rowanclaw, and Tornear. Blackstar notices Lionblaze and greets him, saying that he needs to speak with Firestar. The golden tom then escorts them to the camp and sends Foxpaw and Icepaw back with the brambles. When the cats arrive at camp, Honeyfern's body is still lying in the shade, with her family surrounding it. Firestar is in the middle of the clearing, talking with Graystripe and Brambleclaw, and comes forward to greet them, but Blackstar immediately demands to know if they are sheltering Sol. The flame-colored leader is surprised that they found out so quickly, but Onestar angrily says that one of his patrols saw a ThunderClan cat returning with Sol along the edge of the lake, and they told RiverClan, who told ShadowClan. Firestar asks why this is any of their business, but Leopardstar retorts that he put their Clans in danger by doing it. Blackstar demands to know if they remember what Sol had did to ShadowClan, but no cat responds.
- When Leopardstar asks what they're going to do with him, Firestar says he hasn't decided yet, but Onestar agrees with the other leaders and declares that he doesn't support this, and the others agree with him. This makes Lionblaze want to claw their fur, thinking that they have shouldn't interfere in ThunderClan's business. Finally, Blackstar announces that if Sol isn't gone from the lake by the next Gathering, then the other three Clans will get rid of him themselves.
