"I remember my first battle. Sweetbriar insisted I eat a shrew, but I hid it when her back was turned and then told her it was delicious."
Pinestar to Bluepaw the day before the battle with WindClan in Bluestar's Prophecy, page 104

Sweetbriar is a light brown tabby she-cat with white paws[4] and green eyes.[5]

History[]

In the Super Editions[]

Bluestar's Prophecy[]

«Sweetkit, who was white with tortoiseshell patches, was named after Pinestar's mother, Sweetbriar.»
—Bluekit's description of Sweetkit Bluestar's Prophecy, page 47
Sweetbriar is mentioned by Bluekit four moons after Sweetkit, Thistlekit, and Rosekit are born to Poppydawn and Windflight. Sweetkit is named out of respect and honor of Sweetbriar, Pinestar's deceased mother.
Before the battle with WindClan, Bluepaw feels too nervous to eat anything and food makes her feel sick. Pinestar comes and comforts her by telling her that when he was nervous when he was about to fight his first battle, Sweetbriar insisted that he should eat a shrew. Rather than eating it, he had hid the shrew in his nest when her back was turned away from him, and then he told her it was delicious; however, Sweetbriar did not believe him.

In the Novellas[]

Pinestar's Choice[]

Upon Pinepaw and Mistpelt's return to the ThunderClan camp, Sweetbriar immediately starts nuzzling her kit, purring and licking his back fur. She demands to know what he thought of his first day as an apprentice, and without waiting for an answer, asks his mentor Mistpelt if he was good and listened to her. Pinepaw wriggles free and thinks that his mother could be so embarrassing.
