Chapter description[]
- Dawnstripe defends Tallpaw, and when questioned, Tallpaw meows he smelled ShadowClan, but didn't say it. Tallpaw states he thought they were only travelling to the Moonstone, and Shrewpaw attacks him, growling he killed Brackenwing, making Hareflight pull him back and tells him to have control. Shrewpaw growls he'll never forgive Tallpaw and the black-and-white tom looks at Barkpaw, apologizing, and Reena, Bess and Heatherstar defend Tallpaw and WindClan. Hawkheart is checking for wounds, while Aspenfall and Ryestalk were rebuilding the nursery and making the gorse thick. Stagleap is helping Whiteberry, Flailfoot and Flamepelt fix up the elder's den. Hawkheart treats the Tallpaw's injuries despite his protests.
- Hickorynose, Sandgorse, Mistmouse, Woollytail and Plumclaw march through camp. Aspenfall meows ShadowClan attacked them, and Reedfeather asks if they can smell their scent, as it's like all of ShadowClan were here. Shrewpaw growls Tallpaw killed Brackenwing, and Reedfeather tells Shrewpaw he must not keep blaming Tallpaw. Hickorynose asks Meadowslip if she was hurt, and she reassures him she was fine and goes on, meowing he wished he would have been there to take care of her and protect her. Cloudrunner and Aspenfall challenge the meaning of tunnels, which Sandgorse argues against, and Tallpaw realizes the Clan is falling apart.
