Shocked, Talltail realizes he's found the rogue at last. Reena and Algernon lead the two back to their camp. Bess, shocked at the appearance of the warrior and kittypet, asks where Reena found them, and Talltail begins to explain that he wanted to see what was beyond his territory, hoping that he could travel with their group.
Sparrow approaches, and Talltail begins to shake with rage before calming himself, not wanting to reveal his true plans. Jake asks if he's going to stay with them, and Talltail reminds him that he said he wouldn't butt in. Jake pleads for Talltail to return home with him, before the black-and-white cat reveals that he's never going back. Jake decides to stay, believing that Talltail will need his help.
As the two cats approach where the rogues had made camp, they overhear the group discussing them. Algernon and Mole are displeased with the idea of extra mouths to feed, though Bess, Reena, and Sparrow argue for them to stay. Talltail and Jake offer to help them hunt, and Talltail talks with Reena. He lies to her, telling her that Sandgorse dying wasn't Sparrow's fault, and that he was lucky.
They begin to share prey, and the rogues ask how WindClan is doing with all of the changes since they'd left. Talltail updates them on his new siblings, but Algernon tells Reena to let him rest, saying that they've had a long journey and they can talk in the morning.
