Chapter description[]
- In the starry moor of StarClan's grounds, Heatherstar is about to receive her eighth life from a former medicine cat - Thrushpelt. He gives her a life of trusting your instincts, and with that Heatherstar groans from the new life pulsing through her. After that, Daisytail appears, and asks if Heatherstar knows her. Replying yes, Heatherstar acknowledges her legacy that was passed down as a story in WindClan for many seasons. Daisytail gives Heatherstar her ninth life - the force of a mother's love, which makes the new leader stumble from the pain, also worrying Hawkheart. Daisytail tells Hawkheart that she is strong and can handle it.
- Heatherstar's ceremony draws to an end, and vows to make WindClan respected by all Clans, and to lead them well. Hawkheart tells his leader to return to the Moonstone, however, Heatherstar insists on staying with StarClan a bit more. Hawkheart leaves, saying that he will be waiting. Heatherstar encounters Moth Flight, the first ever medicine cat. She announces that she has a warning for Heatherstar, and that she must not demand loyalty from her warriors. However, Heatherstar objects, and the two quarrel for a short moment. Moth Flight tells Heatherstar an ominous saying: There will be a warrior whose loyalty to WindClan will waver. A cat who will have to seek far beyond the confines of your territory to discover where his heart truly lies. Heatherstar is both startled and angry, and Moth Flight states that on the day he chooses to stray, she must let him go.
