Chapter description[]

Clear Sky observes One Eye training his cats, and Clear Sky wonders if the rogue had followed him to the Blazing Star. One Eye fights with Thorn, demonstrating a dangerous move, and Clear Sky admires One Eye’s training. Tom suggests using weapons, and One Eye sends him to find a sharp rock. Sparrow Fur arrives just then, searching for her father, and when no cat tells her where he is, she expresses a desire to train. One Eye confronts her aggressively, considering her an unfamiliar enemy. One Eye challenges her to a fight, and Clear Sky allows it, thinking that One Eye can teach her. The two cats fight, and One Eye initially appears to back off once Sparrow Fur falls, but when she attacks again, One Eye attempts to kill her. Clear Sky finally intervenes, and as he does, Tom returns and attacks One Eye to protect his daughter.
As they fight, Clear Sky checks on Sparrow Fur and asks his cats to gather cobwebs for her wounds. Once her wounds are tended to, Clear Sky turns back to the fight to find that One Eye has killed Tom. The cats are horrified, and Clear Sky sends them back to camp with Sparrow Fur, before questioning One Eye’s actions. One Eye is dismissive, and Clear Sky swipes at him in anger. One Eye comments about the sickness, and Clear Sky asks what he knows, but One Eye only warns that some of Clear Sky’s campmates will die. Clear Sky attacks him and orders him to leave, and he does, though only for a moment. As Clear Sky wonders what to do, One Eye catches him with a surprise attack and pins him, warning him that he will not be easy to kill. The rogue then leaves, with Clear Sky feeling defeated.
