Chapter description[]
- Gray Wing is horrified to find that his plan is failing, and his cats are surrounded by One Eye's rogues. Owl Eyes and Sparrow Fur suddenly appear and leap at the rogues, startling them enough for River Ripple to lead the group away. The rogues do not follow as River Ripple leads the group to safety beside the river, and they notice that Clear Sky is missing. River Ripple takes them to a tunnel in the riverbank, which they follow back to the moor, where they find Clear Sky being beaten by One Eye and his rogues, and then find Wind Runner and Gorse Fur. Gray Wing devises a plan to climb a tree, using the sun to blind One Eye before attacking, and they move into position. Thunder is angered by the sight of Star Flower with the rogues.
- Sparrow Fur volunteers herself to call to One Eye, wanting revenge for Tom. She yowls a challenge to One Eye, who sets two guards to watch Clear Sky and takes the rest of the rogues to the tree. Sparrow Fur climbs until One Eye is blinded by the sun, at which point the cats attack. Most of the rogues immediately flee while Thunder fights Star Flower, and Gray Wing, Cloud Spots, and Lightning Tail face One Eye. Once Cloud Spots and Lightning Tail finally pin One Eye, Gray Wing prepares to kill him, but Thunder rushes in to do it himself, attacking One Eye. Gray Wing prevents Star Flower from intervening as Thunder kills her father, and when Gray Wing turns back, One Eye is dead. Star Flower attempts to mourn, but Thunder orders the cats to chase her away.
