Chapter description[]
- Violetshine dreams of Tree curling up with her in SkyClan's camp. She goes to speak to him, but water bubbles from her mouth, and she wakes to Dewspring and their Clanmates scrambling to escape the oncoming flood. Hawkwing helps the Clan find higher ground, and several cats believe the storm to have been caused by ignoring StarClan's words. Frecklewish tries to calm her Clanmates, and the cats climb the nearby trees to escape the water.
- Leafstar admits that they should have stayed with the other Clans in the lake territories. SkyClan continues to shelter in the trees as the downpour continues, and Violetshine worries about the Clan being destroyed. She presses against Hawkwing, who tells her he is grateful he got to know Violetshine and her sister, Twigbranch, and she realizes in horror that he believes they will die there. Leafstar rallies her Clan, and the cats begin brainstorming ways to escape the flood.
- Plumwillow suggests jumping across from a long branch, though Leafstar is uncertain. The leader decides to make the jump herself, first, in hopes of bending a younger sapling to bridge the gap. Violetshine watches in horror as Leafstar disappears into the water, and nearly jumps in after her before Hawkwing holds her back. The SkyClan cats are shocked to see Finleap rescue Leafstar from the floodwater, and the Clan realizes that ThunderClan, WindClan, and RiverClan have come to help.
- With the other Clans assisting, the SkyClan cats are able to make it to safety, and Violetshine and Hawkwing happily reunite with Twigbranch and Tree. Violetshine asks her sister why the Clans came, and Twigbranch explains that the Clans want to show Leafstar that SkyClan belongs with them all. Violetshine thanks Finleap for saving her leader's life, understanding now why Twigbranch loves him so much.
