Chapter description[]

In ShadowClan camp, Rootpaw wonders why Squirrelflight would seek sanctuary from Tigerstar. Around him, ShadowClan cats share a confused look as Tigerstar questions the she-cat. The deputy explains that Bramblestar had sent her away, thinking she was a traitor. Tigerstar, shocked, questions the decision, exclaiming that Bramblestar must have bees in his brain to send her away. Squirrelflight states that Bramblestar isn't Bramblestar, further confusing the leader. Tree pads forward to back up her claim, despite Tigerstar's protests. Rootpaw also puts himself forward, with the assurance of Shadowsight.
With Tigerstar's reluctant permission, Tree explains that the Bramblestar currently leading ThunderClan is an impostor, as the real Bramblestar is left as a ghost roaming the territories. Shadowsight also explains to his father that the impostor was able to steal the leader's body when he lost a life, believing that the voice that had guided him, wanted the ThunderClan leader to lose a life so his body could be stolen. Rootpaw stares at the medicine cat as he realises that whoever had stolen Bramblestar's body had planned it all out. Scorchfur pads forward and questions his Clanmate. Shadowsight tries to explain himself as Puddleshine steps up to aide his fellow medicine cat's case. The dark gray tabby offers his apology as Flowerstem asks the question of where StarClan is if they weren't communicating through the tom.
Shadowsight, unable to answer the question shrugs as Whorlpelt wonders aloud if Bramblestar's impostor is right. Tree snaps at them, stating that StarClan doesn't care about the codebreakers, that it is only something the impostor wants. The ShadowClan cats discuss what had happened with Shadowsight, as Tigerstar states that was has happened, has happened and that it cannot be changed. Tree tells the gathered cats he can show them Bramblestar's ghost, which catches Tawnypelt off guard. The yellow tom notices his son's nervous glance and offers him reassurance. Rootpaw focuses as Tree stands in front of him as Bramblestar's ghost is summoned in ShadowClan's camp. Bramblestar confirms to the gathered cats that his body had been stolen and to not listen to the impostor or blame Shadowsight for what has happened.
Tree congratulates his son, which makes Rootpaw lose his focus and the ThunderClan leader's ghost fades away. Flowerstem is the first to question the ghost, but Tawnypelt confirms that is was Bramblestar. Tigerstar asks the biggest question, wondering who the impostor could be. The cats of ShadowClan throw around guesses of Dark Forest cats or rogues. As they discuss what action to take, it becomes apparent that the impostor is unaware cats know that he is a fake. Rootpaw feels a little bit of pride at what he done and realises that being like his father wasn't that bad. As he thinks, he wonders if with the help of ShadowClan they would be able to stand up to the impostor, or would they fail.
