Chapter description[]
- Rock says that ever since cats decided to live together, in Tribes or Clans, there have always been those who wish to live alone. He states that even though the Clans may think the warrior code is the only way to live, they can't deny the tenacity of the Tribe of Rushing Water, or even the ruthless battle-hunger of Scourge's BloodClan.
- Rock remarks that the warrior code has served the Clans well, providing them with food, shelter, and neighbors to turn to in times of need. He then also says that the forest is not littered with the bodies of rogues unjustly killed, and kittypets do not flock from their nests to join the Clans. Rock states that there are other ways to live; ways that might suit some cats better than being a warrior. And every so often, it is a cat from outside the code that has shaped the destiny of a Clan.
