Thunderstar.FG-1 "The story is never the same twice, and parts grow uncertain, or they become suddenly clear in the telling."

This article contains information mainly from the 2007 field guide, Secrets of the Clans. While based on canonical information, the book has been repeatedly retconned as the series progressed, and thus its credibility is questioned.

"But it's not fair! TigerClan has nothing special. We are plain orange cats with no great skills. We should have something to set us apart like LionClan and LeopardClan have!"
— Thorntooth complaining about the other Clans' uniqueness in Secrets of the Clans, page 165

Thorntooth is a male tiger[1] and a warrior of the mythological Great Clan, TigerClan.

Code of the Clans

Thorntooth was more bitter than the rest of the Clan due to jealousy of the other Clans for having something special, such as LionClan's mane and LeopardClan's black spotted pelts, and the ability to swim and run fast. He raided the other Clans at night, stealing kits and taking their fresh-kill. This caused terror in both LionClan and LeopardClan.
Once, he came back to camp with a small lion cub in his jaws. This kit was Petalkit, the sole daughter of Goldenstar, the leader of LionClan. Shadestar, the TigerClan leader, got irritated by Thorntooth's actions. Thorntooth was ordered to return her to LionClan the same night, so Shadestar called a Gathering, where Petalkit could be returned to LionClan before they attack. As a punishment for his awful behavior, Thorntooth and the whole of TigerClan was ordered by Goldenstar to live in the shadows of night for a moon. After living in shadows for a moon, the TigerClan cats gained black stripes, making their Clan have something unique, and this was pleasing to Thorntooth.
