Chapter description[]
- The patrol travels for a half-moon. Lightkit complains how much further they'll be walking, and Tigerheart speculates they might make it there by the full moon. Pouncekit protests that Tigerheart had said the other day that they might arrive before the full moon, but fortunatey Cinnamon distracts the kits with a game of guessing the names of plants. Tigerheart is grateful for her and the other guardian cats' help during their journey, especially since traveling with kits is slow. Abruptly, Spire announces that they must leave the Silverpath and find the orange sun. The group is uncertain to follow the healer's advice, especially since they might get lost leaving the Silverpath, but Blaze defends his friend. However, Tigerheart concludes they should rest for the night first and follow in the direction Spire wants to go in the morning since it'll be sunrise by then. Spire sharply refutes that he's referring to the orange sun and not the dawn sun, and that they must leave now. Tigerheart insists they can worry about it in the morning, but Blaze and Spire are dubious.
- Tigerheart and Dovewing debate Spire's vision that night when Blaze cries that Spire is gone. The white-and-orange tom believes his friend left to find the orange sun and they must find him before he freezes from the chill. Tigerheart and Dovewing go with the young tom while Cinnamon and Ant stay with the kits. They follow Spire's scent across a Thunderpath and notice a large stone wall with a sun and the city painted on it. The group wonders if this is the sun from Spire's dreams. They quickly locate Spire speaking with two strange cats, and Tigerheart recognizes them as Slatefur and Berryheart, two lost ShadowClan warriors.

Mentioned[]
Errors[]
- There is a major inconsistency with Rippletail's appearance on the patrol. In Tigerheart's Shadow, he escapes the Kin and is one of the cats that return to ShadowClan,[6] while in River of Fire, he is a kittypet, and Slatefur takes his place in the patrol back to ShadowClan.[7] Kate later confirmed he had become a kittypet, as in River of Fire, and Slatefur is the one who is actually meant to be on the patrol.[blog 1]
Important events[]
- Spire receives a vision of an orange sun,[8] indicating that the group must find Cloverfoot, Slatefur, Berryheart, and Sparrowtail hiding near a building with an orange sun painted on it.[5]
