In the Power of Three arc[]

Dark River[]

Tigerkit is born to Tawnypelt and Rowanclaw, along with his two littermates, Dawnkit and Flamekit. Blackstar mentions the birth of him and his littermates at a Gathering, on a report of newborn kits. Despite Tigerstar's death being many, many moons ago, several cats are startled by his mother's choice to name Tigerkit after his long dead grandfather, Tigerstar. Some of the cats present are even anxious that Tigerkit will turn out like Tigerstar, despite the young kit being a newborn.

Outcast[]

When the traveling cats journey to the Tribe, Tawnypelt remarks to Squirrelflight that Tigerkit has already perfected his hunting crouch. Out of the three kits, Tigerkit seems to like Lionpaw the best and is the most mischievous. When Tawnypelt is asked to come to the mountains, Tigerkit and his littermates run out of the bushes from eavesdropping. She is nervous about leaving her kits, but Snowbird offers to take care of them while she is away. She mews that she is aware of all the tricks Tigerkit and his littermates try and pull off, so it will be easy for her to keep a close eye on them.

Eclipse[]

When Hollypaw goes to ShadowClan to ask Blackstar to help with the battle against WindClan, she almost trips over Tigerkit and his siblings. Tigerkit squeaks and hops around, telling his mother that he and his siblings want to go to the battle, leading Tawnypelt to ask if he has been eavesdropping again. Hollypaw purrs at the sight of their short, fluffy tails. He and his siblings are again put under the watchful eyes of Snowbird so Tawnypelt can help with the fight.
When Hollypaw, Lionpaw, Jaypaw, and Sol go to the ShadowClan camp again, Tigerkit goes up to Lionpaw and demands to know if he is grown and he claims he will be even bigger next time they meet.

Long Shadows[]

Tigerpaw is a newly named ShadowClan apprentice, with his sister, Dawnpaw, and brother, Flamepaw. His mentor is Oakfur.
After Sol takes control of ShadowClan, Tawnypelt takes Tigerpaw and his siblings to her birth Clan, ThunderClan, where they are welcomed by Brambleclaw and permitted to stay until ShadowClan's problem with Sol is solved. While there, he is given a temporary mentor, Brackenfur, while his siblings are assigned to other ThunderClan cats.
Dawnpaw asks if they could have a piece of fresh-kill and ThunderClan allows them to. They tackle the fresh-kill pile, eating all the dry pieces and leaving the ThunderClan cats with the wet ones. This annoys the ThunderClan cats, and Tigerpaw is the only one to apologize for what he did, feeling guilty, while his littermates say nothing.
Tigerpaw compares his fur with Lionblaze's, saying that he outstretched his paw and compares it to Lionblaze's paw. He and his siblings help Jaypaw, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze create a fake sign so that Blackstar can believe in StarClan once more. As the six cats are in the marshes, Tigerpaw approaches Littlecloud, and the two cats find Blackstar, calling himself Blackfoot. The trees in the area fall, and as they do, Tigerpaw takes refuge underneath a trunk of one. After the two cats make sure they are both safe, Blackfoot nor Littlecloud cannot find Tigerpaw, and a spirit, which is actually Jaypaw in disguise. Jaypaw tells the two cats that more cats than Tigerpaw will be lost if they go on rejecting their ancestors.
When Raggedstar and Runningnose appear with Jaypaw in order for the sign to work, Blackfoot questions them, asking if their apprentice, Tigerpaw, is safe. Raggedstar confirms he is. As the StarClan cats disappear, Littlecloud calls for Tigerpaw, whom appears safe and has his eyes shining at the prospect of seeing real StarClan cats. Tigerpaw and his siblings then leave for ShadowClan, their real home.

Sunrise[]

Flamepaw mentions Tigerpaw to Jayfeather.

In the Omen of the Stars arc[]

The Fourth Apprentice[]

Now a newly appointed warrior, Tigerheart greets Lionblaze at one of the Gatherings, but he greets him just as he would to an ordinary ShadowClan warrior as a result of them not being kin, making Tigerheart feel hurt.
Tigerheart is chosen, along with Toadfoot, to represent ShadowClan and go with two cats from each other Clan, Lionblaze and Dovepaw from ThunderClan, Whitetail and Sedgewhisker from WindClan, and Rippletail and Petalfur from RiverClan, to find out what possibly could have happened to the water in the lake. During the journey, when Dovepaw gets caught in a pelt-den, he helps her out.
When Dovepaw hears the dogs coming, he and Toadfoot climb onto the trees, but the RiverClan and WindClan cats don't, because they don't know how. With the ThunderClan and ShadowClan cats, they help the others climb on to trees.
When fighting the beavers, he helps dismantle the dam, and almost drowns when the logs fall into the stream.
It is noted he is friendlier to the other warriors than his Clanmate, Toadfoot, especially to Dovepaw. It is also hinted that he may have taken a liking to Dovepaw, often telling her that he will protect her. Lionblaze and Jayfeather think that Tigerheart is being trained by Tigerstar and Hawkfrost in the Dark Forest, as Lionblaze saw him use a battle move of Tigerstar's during the battle with the beavers. Jayfeather suspects that he may have been recruited by the Dark Forest.
When he returns to the ShadowClan camp, he is greeted by his mother, Tawnypelt, and his siblings, Flametail and Dawnpelt. When the other cats leave, he says good-bye to them.

Fading Echoes[]

When Jayfeather is out for a walk at night near the ThunderClan and ShadowClan border, he runs into Tigerheart, literally, as Tigerheart had attacked him at first, not knowing who he was. When Jayfeather asks him why he is out, he dodges the questions, not offering a direct answer.
Later, a ThunderClan patrol finds ShadowClan scent of a single warrior on their side of the border. They examine the scent trail, trying to find out what warrior it was, and none of them can tell who it was except Dovepaw, who recognizes it as Tigerheart's, but does not tell anyone. Soon a ShadowClan border patrol containing Tigerheart sees them and asks what they are doing. When ThunderClan tells them, they grow angry and say that ThunderClan is falsely accusing them. Tigerheart acts quite defiant towards the ThunderClan warriors, refusing to admit that a ShadowClan warrior would have crossed the border. Thornclaw tells them to smell the scent trail to see for themselves, but the warriors point out that if they walk over to ThunderClan's side to smell it, they would leave a new ShadowClan scent trail. However, Tigerheart steps up and declares he will go over to search for ShadowClan scent. Dovepaw realizes that he is cleverly doing this so that his old scent will be covered up by his new scent before anyone knows it was him. He then declares that he cannot smell anything other than ThunderClan, and while the rest of the warriors continue to argue, Dovepaw takes him aside and asks him why he was on their side of the border. He desperately pleads her not to tell anyone that it was him, and that he is unable to tell her why he was there until the next Gathering. She hesitates, but agrees to keep his secret.
At the next Gathering, Dovepaw finds him after the leaders have spoken and asks him once again why he was in ThunderClan territory. He anxiously tells her that he cannot reveal why, but begs her to still keep his secret. She still agrees to not reveal it to anyone. She also comments in her thoughts that she thinks that Tigerheart is handsome.
At the battle between ShadowClan and ThunderClan, Tigerheart fights fiercely for his Clan. Dovepaw sees him rushing towards Ivypaw, but when the two of them near each other, they stop, give a slight nod to each other, then go find other cats to fight. Dovepaw stares at the two cats, wondering what that was about and feeling jealous because of her liking for him, but she is too busy fighting the other ShadowClan warriors to think about it.

Night Whispers[]

Tigerheart meets Dovepaw on ThunderClan territory and says that he did not realize that he was on their side. Then a patrol comes, Dovepaw tells him to go, and he says that he wants to see her again. Dovepaw agrees to meet him that night. They meet at the border and he takes her to an abandoned Twoleg nest. He starts jumping logs and then on the one next to Dovepaw's, she hears a crack. She panics and clasps him into her paws, tackling him down into the moss. When he asked why she did that, she apologetically responded that she heard a crack. Looking closer, Tigerheart realizes that there was a small split in the wood. He remarks that she saved his life and adds that she must care about him. She admits she does, and tells him to repay her, jokingly, that he had to bring her mice and a squirrel every day for a moon and follow her around, picking the burrs from her pelt. Tigerheart grows serious and responds that he would do that anyway, and she did not have to save his life first. He confesses his feelings for Dovepaw, which she admits she reciprocates. They head back to the border and agree to keep meeting. They then depart.
Tigerheart starts to show up later and later to the Dark Forest, staying awake longer to spend his nights with Dovepaw. Tigerstar notices this, and becomes increasingly displeased by this. The Dark Forest cat growls darkly that he will find Tigerheart, and his tone of voice worries Ivypaw, thinking that the dark brown cat could be getting into trouble for his late arrivals to training. :Ivypaw and Tigerheart then become friends as they see each other in the Dark Forest. When the Dark Forest cats are doing water-fighting training, Ivypaw is revealed to feel safer around Tigerheart.
Ivypaw scents Tigerheart on Dovepaw's fur and accuses her of being disloyal. Dovepaw gets mad at Ivypaw, saying that Ivypaw wanted Tigerheart as a mate and that she was a mate-stealer. Ivypaw then explains that Tigerheart was on the Dark Forest's side as well as her. Dovepaw refuses to believe her.
When Dovepaw and Tigerheart meet at night again, Ivypaw catches them. Ivypaw hisses at Tigerheart to tell the truth about him and the Dark Forest, but he remains silent. Tigerheart then shoves Dovepaw into a bush when a ShadowClan patrol approaches them, and they take Ivypaw to the ShadowClan camp. Dovepaw pleads silently to him, asking Tigerheart to protect Ivypaw.
Dovepaw tells Tigerheart, who is worried sick about Littlecloud's illness, about the herb patches outside of the Twoleg nest. When the ThunderClan cats come to ask if ShadowClan has Ivypaw, it is revealed that Tigerheart has betrayed Dovepaw by telling his Clan of the herb patches. She is furious with him, and challenges him about it at a Gathering. Tigerheart tells her that he is loyal to his Clanmates, and that he puts them first above anything else. Dovepaw asks him if he put them above her, and he tries to say that he did not mean it that way, but she just walks away.
Tigerheart is stricken with grief when his brother, Flametail, drowns when the ice on the lake breaks. Dovepaw is worried that Tigerheart could have easily been the one who fell in. Dovepaw hears him keeping vigil for Flametail. When Ivypaw is asked to kill Flametail's spirit, which somehow wanders from StarClan into the Dark Forest, Tigerheart saves his brother at the last moment, telling Ivypaw not to destroy whatever remained of his brother. Tigerstar lets his grandson live, but Ivypaw knows that Tigerheart would possibly hurt her for almost attacking Flametail.

Sign of the Moon[]

Tigerheart argues with Dovewing at a Gathering, unsuccessfully trying to persuade her to restart their forbidden relationship. He asks her if Ivypool has been saying things about him, and Dovewing curiously asks what he means. Tigerheart says never mind and tells her that she does not know her sister as well as she thinks she does. Tigerheart insists that he did not mean to betray Dovewing, but Dovewing refuses to believe him.
In Ivypool's dreams, he appears in the Dark Forest when they are training. When Ivypool fights Breezepelt, Tigerheart helps Breezepelt by attacking Ivypool from behind, saying that he is getting revenge for when Ivypool tried to kill Flametail's spirit.

The Forgotten Warrior[]

Dovewing thinks about Tigerheart when Whitewing tells her she should find a mate. Dovewing knows that Tigerheart would understand she could not have kits if she needed to save the Clan at a moment's notice.
When Dovewing is on patrol with Icecloud, Mousewhisker, and Toadstep, they pass by the bush where she and Tigerheart first met. Dovewing comments to herself that things were so much different back then.
Tigerheart is on the other side of the ShadowClan-ThunderClan border when Dovewing, chasing a squirrel, almost crosses it. He says he needs to talk to her, and Dovewing defensively says that it is over between them. However, Tigerheart only needs to tell her about Dawnpelt, and how she thinks that Jayfeather killed Flametail. Dovewing retorts that Jayfeather was saving him, to which Tigerheart agrees. Dawnpelt, though, wants revenge. He also tells her that all the medicine cats had been acting strange and that Dawnpelt thinks Jayfeather had a fight with Flametail and killed him. Dovewing spits that Dawnpelt needs to grow up and that Jayfeather would never do something like that. Tigerheart gets angry and says that he is telling her not because he thinks it could be true, but because he thinks Dawnpelt might hurt ThunderClan in revenge. Dovewing snaps that she can handle Dawnpelt's temper, and Tigerheart should not talk to her again. Tigerheart, sorrow in his mew, says he was only trying to help, and he and Dovewing did not have to be enemies. Dovewing tells him it is too late for that and turns away to her own territory. The squirrel she was chasing earlier runs past her, and she realizes Tigerheart chased it toward her. She is annoyed, but she catches it anyway. The rest of her patrol appears and congratulate her on her prey. Dovewing looks back, and Tigerheart is gone.
At a Gathering, Ivypool catches Tigerheart staring at her and Dovewing. Both she-cats ignore him. After the leaders make their announcements, Tigerheart leaves his Clanmates to talk to Dovewing. Ivypool tries to interrupt him, but Hollowflight gets in her way. Ivypool tries to look around him while he talks, but she cannot see her sister. When Hollowflight leaves, there is no sign of either Dovewing nor Tigerheart. Ivypool suddenly spots Dovewing coming out of a clearing. Ivypool asks her what Tigerheart wanted, and she says he was just trying to stir up trouble about Flametail. Ivypool is fearful that Tigerheart told Dovewing that he had seen her training in the Dark Forest. She points out that no one can believe everything Tigerheart says. Dovewing agrees, then tells her sister that Tigerheart said Dawnpelt was planning some sort of revenge on ThunderClan. She does not believe him, though, and wonders if he thinks lying is going to scare her. Ivypool suggests telling Brambleclaw about it, and maybe he could put extra patrols on the ShadowClan border. Dovewing refuses, saying she does not want to get in trouble for talking to Tigerheart.
When Dovewing is alone with Bumblestripe, all she can think about is Tigerheart, to her dismay. Sitting with Bumblestripe, her heart was not pounding, nor were her paws tingling with the knowledge of being on forbidden territory. However, she tells herself that there is nowhere that she would rather be than with a fellow Clanmate.
The next day, Dovewing uses her senses to check out the ShadowClan camp, and hears Tigerheart training some apprentices how to stalk a squirrel. The squirrel notices them, however, and jumps on Tigerheart's back before running up a tree. Dovewing is amused by this.
Ivypool is in the Dark Forest and notices Tigerheart and Mapleshade. Mapleshade tells Tigerheart that the Dark Forest will rise up and defeat the Clans. Ivypool is horrified to see Tigerheart listening intently. Mapleshade leaves, and Ivypool emerges from the ferns she was hiding in and hesitantly asks Tigerheart what Dawnpelt is planning for ThunderClan. Tigerheart ignores her question and tells her that he did not tell Dovewing about how Ivypool had almost destroyed Flametail's spirit. Ivypool directs the conversation back to Dawnpelt, and Tigerheart tells her that Dawnpelt blames Jayfeather for Flametail's death. Ivypool is shocked, and Tigerheart reminds her that she does not know what it is like to lose a littermate. Dawnpelt wants to blame her brother's death on something, not just a crack in the ice. Ivypool feels sympathy for Tigerheart, but then reminds herself that he cannot be trusted. She instead snaps that he could just be trying to recruit Dawnpelt to the Dark Forest. Tigerheart tells her that it is not his decision, and she angrily spits that he could be putting a good word in for her, to which Tigerheart does not react. Hawkfrost calls Ivypool, and she leaves Tigerheart in the clearing.
Dovewing comments to herself that she is not worried when she is with Bumblestripe like she is when she's with Tigerheart; she does not need to listen if any patrols are near. Later, Toadstep asks her what was going on with her and Bumblestripe. Dovewing tells him that Bumblestripe is a great cat, but as she says it, an image of Tigerheart appears in her head. She pushes it away, reminding herself that he cannot be a part of her life anymore. Bumblestripe, however, could.
At the next Gathering, Ivypool sees Tigerheart sitting with Redwillow and drops her gaze before he can see her.
Later, when Ivypool is marking the ShadowClan border with Hollyleaf, Dawnpelt appears with Redwillow and Scorchfur. Ivypool remembers Tigerheart's warning, and wonders if Dawnpelt is going to attack them. However, she reminds herself that Tigerheart probably wanted an excuse to Dovewing, and then finds it hard to take Dawnpelt's threats seriously.
Ivypool and Dovewing are talking, Dovewing reminds Ivypool that neither of them are allowed to see cats from other Clans. Ivypool is happy about this, and it looks as if Dovewing is attracted to Bumblestripe. She knows Bumblestripe is better for Dovewing than Tigerheart.
At a Gathering, Lionblaze notices Tigerheart and Hollowflight meeting gazes, and this only heightens his fears about the Dark Forest. When Dawnpelt accuses Jayfeather of murdering Flametail, Tigerheart says that he agrees with his sister, and that Jayfeather must be punished.

The Last Hope[]

Tigerheart calls out to Dovewing when she is near the ShadowClan border. He tries to talk to her, but Dovewing yells at him for agreeing with Dawnpelt at the Gathering when he had told her that he did not believe that Jayfeather killed Flametail. Tigerheart tells her there was nothing else he could do. He then tells Dovewing to meet him that night. He also distracts a ShadowClan patrol when they question him if ThunderClan was there, telling them, nothing out of the ordinary.
Dovewing is seen sleepy the next day, confirming that she and Tigerheart had met that night.
When the leaders meet on the island, Dovewing sees his eyes, and goes to see what he is doing there. He enthuses about her power to sense things beyond normal range, but she gets angry, saying she has a prophecy to fulfill and cannot keep meeting him. She runs away, and he calls for her, but she keeps running.
During the final battle, he fights for the Clans, and also reveals that he was a spy as well when Ivypool asks him. At the end, Tigerheart says he did not know it was Firestar's last life and apologizes to Dovewing.

In the A Vision of Shadows arc[]

The Apprentice's Quest[]

Prior to the beginning of the book, Tigerheart has become an uncle to Dawnpelt's kits; Strikepaw, Juniperpaw, and Sleekpaw. Tigerheart is also the appointed mentor to Sleekpaw, his niece.
During a Gathering, Rowanstar mentions that they have four new apprentices; with Beepaw being apprenticed to Dawnpelt, Juniperpaw to Stonewing, Strikepaw to Wasptail and Sleekpaw to Tigerheart. Tigerheart is later mentioned, though unnamed, as Onestar begins speaking, and mentions that there is good hunting on the moor. Needlepaw mutters that he must not have done much hunting, and Sleekpaw agrees that her mentor said that he couldn't catch a blind hedgehog.
Later, when Alderpaw and Leafpool cross through ShadowClan territory to get catmint, they encounter a patrol lead by Tigerheart, and Leafpool politely greets him, dipping her head. She asks how the prey is running in ShadowClan, but he asks the medicine cats why she wants to know, and asks if she wants to steal it. Alderpaw's neck fur bristles at his hostile tone, but Leafpool calmly responds to Tigerheart that he knows better than that. The tabby warrior's tail-tip twitches to and fro, and he meows that he knows she is always meddling in ShadowClan business, just like a ThunderClan cat. After Leafpool has a brief squabble with Spikefur, Tigerheart takes a step back, sounding less hostile, and tells Leafpool that she can pass, but that they will escort her to the edge of their territory. Leafpool dips her head in acknowledgment and thanks him, and the patrol sets off along the edge of the lake, Leafpool and Tigerheart in the lead. When they reach the far border, Tigerheart waves his tail toward the ThunderClan cats, and loftily tells them that they have permission to cross back to their own Clan, but orders them not to take too long doing so. Alderpaw sarcastically thinks that he and Leafpool wouldn't want to hang around in his territory.

Thunder and Shadow[]

Tigerheart is first seen with Tawnypelt, Stonewing and Juniperpaw when they encounter a ThunderClan patrol. Dovewing is pleased to see Tigerheart but not vice versa. Bramblestar warns them about the rogues, and Tawnypelt orders her son to escort the ThunderClan cats to camp. He is chosen along with Scorchfur, Spikefur and Yarrowpaw on a joint-patrol to track down the rogues. He and Dovewing gently bicker when they lose the trail.
He encounters Alderpaw with Twigkit at night. He asks if Dovewing was with them, and Rippletail asks why they were gathering herbs at night. He assures Alderpaw and Twigkit that Violetpaw is safe in ShadowClan and sends the two on their way. He, Tawnypelt and Spikefur shelter from the wind beside the great stone. He and others reappear when the Rain, Flame, and Raven ask to join ShadowClan. He angrily asks the rogues to leave and start their own Clan, and is chosen to escort them out of the camp.
Moons later, Violetpaw runs into Tigerheart, Tawnypelt, and Spikefur on patrol. She asks to rejoin ShadowClan and he believes her. He explains this to Rowanstar who agrees to let her in. Tigerheart compliments how Violetpaw has the courage of a Clan cat despite not being Clanborn.
When Rowanstar, Kinkfur, and Wasptail fall ill to a mysterious sickness, Crowfrost orders he, Scorchfur, Violetpaw, and Puddleshine to gather lungwort from WindClan territory. He takes the lead across ThunderClan territory where they run into a ThunderClan patrol. Puddleshine warns them about the sickness, and Dovewing thanks Tigerheart for sharing, though he admits it wasn't his idea. They reach WindClan territory where they run into a patrol that takes them to Onestar. The WindClan leader demands to know why they brought the rogue, and Tigerheart explains that Violetpaw is one of them. He explains to Onestar their quest and asks for permission to gather lungwort. Onestar angrily denies their request because the rogues killed Furzepelt. Tigerheart pleads but even that isn't enough for the WindClan leader to concede. He furiously orders the ShadowClan patrol away.
He and Snowbird appear out of the warriors' den when Twigpaw secretly sneaks in to visit her sister. Crowfrost orders him and Snowbird to take Twigpaw back, but Scorchfur comes up with the idea to use Twigpaw as a pawn to get the lungwort from ThunderClan. Crowfrost agrees and orders Tigerheart to take the first watch over Twigpaw. When Snowbird comes down with yellowcough, Tawnypelt asks Tigerheart to take over Lionpaw's training while her mentor recovers. While gathering moss, Twigpaw and Violetpaw pass Tigerheart and Scorchfur heading out with their apprentices. He defends the camp when ThunderClan invades to rescue Twigpaw. He questions Crowfrost when he allows Twigpaw to go without a fight.
Crowfrost dies from yellowcough, and Tigerheart is chosen as his replacement. Later, Dawnpelt asks why Tigerheart hasn't ordered patrols yet, and Strikestone replies he's with Rowanstar in his den. Moments later, both toms emerged from the den. Tigerheart orders two hunting patrols. Scorchfur asks when he and Rowanstar will contribute to the Clan, and Tigerheart responds that their leader is still recovering. He is chosen for the Gathering and is surprised when several ShadowClan cats refuse to go because WindClan almost let them die. Darktail and his rogues arrive, announcing them as the new leaders of ShadowClan. He attacks Rowanstar, and Tigerheart and Tawnypelt shove the white tom away. He leaves with Rowanstar and Tawnypelt to the Gathering as the rogues take over ShadowClan.
He appears that night at the Gathering where Rowanstar announces the fall of his Clan. He blames Onestar for what happened, and Bramblestar invites him and his remaining cats to ThunderClan for the time being. Later, Ivypool tells Twigpaw how horrendous it was having two deputies and leaders in one camp; Tigerheart and Squirrelflight were arguing about morning patrols. She explains to Twigpaw how Dovewing and Tigerheart used to love each other, and was worried the dark brown tabby's presence in ThunderClan wasn't helping. Later, Tigerheart is seen staring intently at Dovewing as she talks with Bumblestripe.

Shattered Sky[]

Tigerheart takes part in the first Clan cats' battle against the Kin. He tells Twigpaw that Violetpaw is strong and smart when she worries about her sister. She turns around and sees him just behind her, with Dovewing standing beside him, and assures Twigpaw that Violetpaw will be okay. Twigpaw thanks him, but notices Ivypool's tail twitching back and forth, and wonders why her mentor doesn't seem to like Tigerheart. He pelts alongside Twigpaw as Twigpaw races after Lionblaze. When Ivypool prepares to pounce on Yarrowleaf, he darts between them, letting Yarrowleaf flee, and Ivypool demands why he did that, as she wasn't his Clanmate anymore. He doesn't say anything, but stares in anguish after the fleeing Yarrowleaf. When the rogues start to overthrow RiverClan, he and Ivypool swiftly glance at each other, their argument over for now, and dive back into battle. After the battle, he appears again briefly, walking behind Bramblestar as the ThunderClan leader prepares to leave for the Gathering.
Tigerheart sits with Dovewing as they watch Rowanstar and Bramblestar argue over the next attack. Meanwhile, Ivypool is glowering at them. Alderheart overhears Ivypool and Tigerheart in the middle of an argument shortly after, also fighting over when to attack the rogues. Tigerheart then volunteers to help look for SkyClan as part of Dovewing's patrol, though Bramblestar orders against it in favor of defeating Darktail first. The next day, Tigerheart is in a fight with Berrynose, their fur bushed up and hissing at each other. Purdy tries to break it up until the unexpectedly collapses, alarming both toms. Tigerheart explains the situation to Alderheart, but Purdy dies. Tigerheart is then seen at his vigil, keeping a respectful distance with the other ShadowClan cats. Soon after Bramblestar announces to the Clan Twigpaw has gone missing in search of her kin in SkyClan and assigns a patrol. Tigerheart immediately offers to go, followed by Dovewing. Molewhisker joins the patrol and the three cats leave camp.
Tigerheart returns with the rest of the patrol a half moon later. Him and Dovewing reveal to Alderheart they didn't find Twigpaw, believing her dead from monster due to finding her fur and blood near a Thunderpath. Ivypool blames herself due to her public protest against the quest. She admits it was for dumb reasons, looking at her sister and Tigerheart. This upsets Dovewing and Tigerheart wraps his tail around her for comfort. Alderheart notices something flash in Ivypool's eyes, but ignores it because of Twigpaw.
Tigerheart appears at Clan meeting. It's noted that while most of the ShadowClan cats stay together, Tigerheart is separate beside Dovewing. Ivypool is with them, eyeing the two cats warily. Tigerheart helps the other cats come up with a plan to save the RiverClan prisoners in Darktail's camp.
Later, Tigerheart travels with the three other Clan deputies including Hawkwing to WindClan in an attempt to reason with Onestar to help them drive out Darktail. They find the camp under attack by the rogues. Tigerheart and other deputies as well as Violetpaw and Twigpaw help WindClan fight them. Tigerheart then goes with Squirrelflight to get the Clan leaders. Onestar admits to them and the whole of his Clan that Darktail was his son and wanted vengeance on the Clans.
Tigerheart is participates in the final battle to drive out Darktail with cats from all five Clans joining together to beat him. He's glimpsed fighting against Nettle.
After Darktail is killed and the rogues driven out, ShadowClan is able to return to their own territory. As the cats are leaving, Violetpaw notices Tigerheart huddled with Dovewing further way. They appear deep in conversation with solemn looks on their faces. Rowanstar interrupts, calling Tigerheart over. Tigerheart gives one final word to Dovewing and quickly leaves to join his Clan leader.
Tigerheart appears in the bonus scene. After Purdy dies, Tigerheart approaches Dovewing who's by herself. He can tell she's upset over more than just Purdy and asks her what's wrong. Dovewing reluctantly tells him how Bumblestripe wants them have to kits together, but she didn't think it was a good time. Tigerheart takes this, a strange look on his face. He admits he agrees with her. He comments they're at that age you usually have kits which confuses Dovewing. Tigerheart is a silent again before saying they should go back to camp before anyone notices they're gone. It then picks up at where Bramblestar assigns a patrol to search for Twigpaw and Tigerheart, Dovewing, and Molewhisker go together.

Darkest Night[]

Tigerheart is mentioned by Ivypool and Twigpaw, pointing out that he and Dovewing were quick to volunteer for patrols together, and that it is a relief that ShadowClan is back in their own camp.
Tigerheart is also pointed out alongside the other deputies at the gathering, being silent despite the remarks from the other clans. He eventually asks Rowanstar for permission to speak, and explains to the other clans that he believes that SkyClan joining the lake clans will lead to every clan being stronger, which leads to more debate over who will give up territory for SkyClan. Eventually Tigerheart allows SkyClan to live on some of ShadowClan’s land, and Rowanstar agrees.
Twigpaw and Finpaw find Tigerheart and Dovewing meeting in secret. They discuss Rowanstar's leadership, and how Tigerheart will likely have to step up to leadership soon, despite Dovewing’s dismay to this idea. Twigpaw decides to leave them alone, thinking that it is none of her business.
When Alderheart goes to ShadowClan to ask about the six toed cat, Tigerheart is seen close by, listening to Rowanstar and Scorchfur debate over SkyClan. When Scorchfur attacks Tawnypelt, Tigerheart finally interferes.
When Twigpaw finds Ivypool at the border, she tells her what Tigerheart and Dovewing were doing. Ivypool gets reasonably upset, but hides it. She also later tells Leafstar, after Dovewing was reported missing.
At the Gathering, Rowanstar says that Tigerheart went missing a few days ago. The ThunderClan cats seem tense, finally suspecting that Dovewing and Tigerheart had ran away together. Rowanstar becomes worried with Tigerheart’s disappearance, admitting that it will be hard to hold ShadowClan together without him, so he decides to step down and ShadowClan joins SkyClan

River of Fire[]

Tigerheart is mentioned by Rowanclaw, who tells Tawnypelt that without his son, there is no point in reuniting ShadowClan, his voice full of grief, and says that he wasn't a strong enough sun, and Puddleshine told him that he saw it in a vision, just before Tigerheart's departure, and admits that he doesn't see any reason for ShadowClan to go on. He is mentioned yet again by Violetshine, who explains to Tree that after his disappearance, his mother, Tawnypelt succeeded him as deputy.
Violetshine, Twigpaw, and Tree talk with Tawnypelt and Rowanclaw about reviving ShadowClan, and Rowanclaw denies taking up leadership again, explaining that he has been dreaming of Tigerheart, hoping that his son will return one day. Tawnypelt agrees with her mate, remorsefully saying that she hopes it's true. The two mates are obviously distraught over Tigerheart's disappearance.
The former deputy is mentioned again by Ivypool, who says that she guesses her sister Dovewing just had to be with the dark tabby.
As he dies, Rowanclaw tells Tawnypelt that he has seen Tigerheart, and has seen his son in his dreams. Violetshine thinks to herself that although Rowanclaw clearly means his words, she is unsure if she believes him, knowing that Tawnypelt might not. Rowanclaw then dies, leaving Tawnypelt overwhelmed with grief.
Right after her warrior ceremony, Twigbranch sees Grassheart and Strikestone dash into the ThunderClan camp despite Brightheart attempting to stop them. Bramblestar demands to know why they were in the camp, and Grassheart assures the leader that they weren't here to fight, but instead get Hawkwing. Informing Bramblestar that his nephew, Tigerheart, has returned with the missing ShadowClan cats. This revelation causes the ThunderClan cats to erupt with questions, until Strikestone tells Bramblestar and Hawkwing that Tigerheart was in fact, dead.
Grassheart and Strikestone lead Hawkwing, Alderheart and Violetshine towards the Moonpool. Violetshine thinks to herself that Tigerheart had been so strong and full of life, and always kind to her during her time in ShadowClan. She knows that it wasn't easy for Alderheart or Hawkwing to understand since they had not known him well, but she could relate to the shock of horror on Grassheart and Strikestone. Hawkwing, confused, asks why they weren't going to the SkyClan camp, to which Grassheart responds that Tigerheart was at the Moonpool, since the cats with him insisted on taking him there. Strikestone confirms her statement, explaining that Frecklewish and Puddleshine were with Tigerheart.
The five cats arrive at the Moonpool, and they are introduced to Dovewing again, as well as hers and Tigerheart's kits: Shadowkit, Lightkit, and Pouncekit. Alderheart notes that Lightkit looked just like her father, while Shadowkit shared his father's dark tabby stripes. Hawkwing, Violetshine, and Alderheart are confused, as Tigerheart was dead and could not bring him back. Berryheart explains that Tigerheart and his patrol found herself, Sparrowtail, Cloverfoot, and Slatefur hiding in an abandoned Twoleg den, while the aforementioned patrol already consisted of the dark tabby, Dovewing, their kits, Ant, Cinnamon, and Blaze.
Violetshine sees Tawnypelt, and feels sorry for the tortoiseshell, knowing she has lost Rowanclaw, Dawnpelt, and now Tigerheart. Berryheart explains to the cats that Tigerheart was grievously injured while saving Hollowkit, and succumbed to his injuries despite their attempts to get him healed. Shadowkit pops into the conversation, telling Berryheart and Violetshine that he has dreamed that his father was alive, playing moss-ball with him and his siblings. Puddleshine appears into the open, and Violetshine feels sorrow, thinking the medicine cat has finally given up on reviving Tigerheart. However, a dark tabby steps into the open, noting the muscles rippling beneath his pelt and his eyes shining. Violetshine realizes that was in fact, Tigerheart. The former deputy is met with eager questions from his clanmates until Dovewing pushes past them, and gasps that her mate was alive. Violetshine admits to Berryheart that maybe Tigerheart wasn't dead, but Berryheart rebukes her answer, claiming that she knows what a dead cat looked like, and Tigerheart was certainly dead.
Tigerheart stands all around his Clanmates, and announces that he left them, but he has returned with cats to make their Clan stronger. He tells the ShadowClan cats to accept the loners as he has, give them their loyalty as he has, and finishes that he is ready to lead them. Violetshine is confused when Tigerheart finishes, and a silence falls over the cats. Juniperclaw breaks it by shouting his new leader's name: Tigerstar. The black tom is followed by the rest of ShadowClan. Tawnypelt pushes through the crowd, purring as if she were going to burst, and asks her son to tell them what happened to him. Puddleshine instead responds, claiming that StarClan brought him back with nine lives to lead the Clan. Tigerstar confirms, and says it was amazing. He dreamed he was on a grassy slope, with the sun shining and a stream running by. He pauses, then continues, saying he saw Rowanclaw and Dawnpelt, and his father told him that he was being sent back to lead ShadowClan. Leafstar tells the new leader that he can have the ShadowClan cats back, as she is tired of them acting like the SkyClan camp is some sort of temporary nest. Tigerstar accepts, and tells the newly revived ShadowClan that they were going home.
Tawnypelt asks Violetshine if she would like to come back to ShadowClan, adding that Tigerstar will be glad to have her. Violetshine denies, claiming she is a SkyClan cat, but thanks Tawnypelt for the offer. Violetshine watches Tawnypelt leave with her son, leading ShadowClan back to their camp.
Dovewing briefly returns to ThunderClan, revealing that she has taken Tigerstar as a mate and is moving into ShadowClan to be with him, much to the dismay of Whitewing and Birchfall, and the anger of Ivypool, who stalks away upon learning it. Bramblestar, overhearing the conversation, asks if they said Tigerstar, and Alderheart explains to his father of what happened at the Moonpool. When Alderheart finishes, Bramblestar reveals that doesn't like his nephew leading ShadowClan, claiming there to be something ominous of a second Tigerstar leading ShadowClan. Alderheart realizes his father his referring to Tigerstar, who was Bramblestar's father and tried to take over the old forest, and realizes further that the new Tigerstar is the grandson of the first, and agrees that no wonder Bramblestar has his doubts. Graystripe agrees with Bramblestar, claiming those days to be dark times, and wonders what ShadowClan will do. Dovewing assures ThunderClan that her mate is a good cat, and eventually is escorted to ShadowClan by Whitewing, Birchfall and Fernsong.
Alderheart tells Puddleshine at the half-moon meeting that he has seen Rippletail in a Twoleg nest. Puddleshine assures the dark ginger tom that he'll be sure to tell Tigerstar and Tawnypelt. Kestrelflight, astonished, asks to know what happened, and Puddleshine explains the recent events to the WindClan medicine cat. Frecklewish tells Puddleshine that ShadowClan better not think of remarking the borders, and Puddleshine assures her that Tigerstar has no intention of that.

The Raging Storm[]

With Tigerstar now taking up ShadowClan's leadership mantle, he has appointed Tawnypelt as his deputy, and apprenticed Blaze, Cinnamon, Ant, Conekit, Frondkit and Gullkit, as well as making Whorlpaw, Snakepaw, and Flowerpaw warriors. ShadowClan heavily supports their new leader and his promise to make ShadowClan stronger.

Lost Stars[]

His kits, Pouncestep and Lightleap, have become warriors. His other kit, Shadowpaw, is a ShadowClan medicine cat apprentice. He is proud of all of his kits. He looks at Shadowpaw with joy and pride along with Dovewing. Tigerstar comes over and wishes him well to the Moonpool. Shadowpaw doesn't like that they treat him like a kit and that they didn't treat Pouncestep and Lightleap like that when they became warriors, but thinks either they like that he is a medicine cat or because he has had seizures in the past and they want him to be normal.
Tigerstar is seen at the Gathering reporting for ShadowClan. He is worried why StarClan isn't responding and wonders why. His son, Shadowpaw, receives visions of codebreakers and Dovewing is listed as one. Shadowpaw brings up the vision to his father and Tigerstar explains that Dovewing did break the code to be with him. He starts to become upset every time the codebreakers are brought up and doesn't want Dovewing to be in danger. Shadowpaw also receives a vision of Tigerstar and Bramblestar fighting viciously.
The ShadowClan leader wonders why Bramblestar seems to be getting sicker and sicker. Tigerstar calls a meeting in camp and every cat sits down to listen. When Shadowpaw is at the Moonpool, he gets a vision of how to treat Bramblestar and tells Tigerstar. Tigerstar was reluctant at first, but realized he should help his kin. He, along with Shadowpaw and Dovewing, head over to ThunderClan camp. Tigerstar watches as Shadowpaw instructs how to treat Bramblestar.
He watches as Bramblestar freezes in the cold and was pronounced dead. He mourns for his uncle and doesn't blame Shadowpaw for what he did. He sticks up for Shadowpaw when the ThunderClan cats call him out for being a murderer. He watches with shocked eyes as Bramblestar starts moving. He is happy that Shadowpaw's treatment worked and that it cured Bramblestar.

The Silent Thaw[]

Tigerstar congratulates Shadowpaw for earning his full name and slyly reminds his son to not reveal his vision of codebreakers at the half-moon meeting. Tigerstar replies that he hopes Shadowpaw likes his new name, and Shadowpaw wonders if his father helped Puddleshine pick one. At the Gathering, Tigerstar announces Shadowpaw's new name—Shadowsight. Bramblestar once again brings up the topic of warriors breaking the code and links their crimes as the cause of StarClan's silence. He mentions Dovewing as a culprit and Tigerstar bristles at Bramblestar.
Shadowsight asks his father if he can inform the other medicine cats about his vision, but Tigerstar refuses, citing his worries for Dovewing and the other codebreakers if they were exposed. He anxiously checks over Dovewing when she and her patrol were injured by a falling branch. Tigerstar checks on the other injured, and Scorchfur reports what happened. Three days later, Tigerstar returns to the medicine den to check on the injured. When speaking with Antfur, who suffers amnesia from the branch hitting his head, his warrior insists on being ready to return to duties. Tigerstar is initially hesitant when Antfur forgets his friend's warrior name, but agrees with Puddleshine that Antfur won't be alone while hunting. After Antfur's death, Shadowsight decides to disobey his father's wishes and tell the others about his vision.
Tigerstar is furious to learn of what Shadowsight did. Dovewing comforts both of them, insisting she and Tigerstar taught their son to be honest and kind. Tigerstar is fearful that Bramblestar might accuse him of being a codebreaker and not being able to protect Dovewing. When Bramblestar calls an emergency Gathering, Tigerstar confronts him for being eager to punish the codebreakers since that's all he wanted to do in the first place. Bramblestar growls back that Tigerstar has no right to defend them when Dovewing is a codebreaker, and Tigerstar points out that Squirrelflight is one, too. After the Gathering, Tigerstar runs to Dovewing's side protectively.
Dovewing leaves ShadowClan to atone and Tigerstar is frantic. Shadowsight is horrified and explains to Tigerstar and Puddleshine that he learned his vision was not from StarClan. Tigerstar silences Shadowsight's worries about informing the other Clans of the truth and the pair rush off to find Dovewing. Tigerstar explains how he followed his mate's scent trail for a moon when she left for the city. He consoles his son for making a mistake, and Shadowsight feels lucky to have amazing parents. They find Dovewing near a dirty Twoleg nest and bring her home.
Before the next Gathering is about to begin, Frecklewish and Rootpaw attempt to speak with Shadowsight but he and Tigerstar brush them off. Bramblestar and several other warriors want the codebreakers to atone for their crimes, and Scorchfur reveals to Bramblestar that Tigerstar brought Dovewing back to ShadowClan before her atonement could finish. Tigerstar cites he is in charge of ShadowClan and StarClan will judge him accordingly. Bramblestar wonders if Tigerstar is no longer fit to lead and questions Cloverfoot who also stands up for Tigerstar.
Tigerstar aggressively confronts Tree and Rootpaw when they arrive in his camp, fearful they are going to act on Bramblestar's word and challenge his leadership. He dismisses them. Squirrelflight arrives to ask for sanctuary, and she, Tree, Rootpaw and Shadowsight explain how Bramblestar is an impostor. Tree and Rootpaw materialize Bramblestar's ghost as proof, and Dovewing and Tawnypelt convince Tigerstar to aid the other Clans to drive the impostor out. Tigerstar allows Dovewing to continue with her atonement to not raise suspicion and grants Squirrelflight's request for sanctuary. Before Shadowsight leaves for the half-moon meeting to warn the other medicine cats, Tigerstar and Dovewing press their son not to go. He insists on attending and Tigerstar watches fearfully as he leaves with the others.

Veil of Shadows[]

Shadowsight goes missing the night of the half-moon meeting, and his parents are distraught by his disappearance. When Bristlefrost brings Lionblaze, Jayfeather and Twigbranch to stay in ShadowClan after they've been exiled, Tigerstar asks if they've seen Shadowsight and grows somber when Bristlefrost replies they haven't. Bristlefrost decides not to tell Tigerstar that she saw the impostor return to camp late at night with his chest covered in blood the night Shadowsight disappeared, since she fears the accusation will result in war. At the emergency Gathering, the impostor explains that he believes Shadowsight left the Clans since his mother is a codebreaker. Tigerstar refuses to believe that and insists Shadowsight would've have left the Clans, and he surmises something must've happened to him. The impostor insists he must accept the truth since there is no evidence of an attack, and convinces Mistystar and Harestar to exile their codebreakers.
Tigerstar allows Crowfeather and Mothwing to stay in ShadowClan, but grows tiresome of the conflicting and strong personalities in his camp. He agrees to let the exiles stay in SkyClan's old camp on ShadowClan's land and as a meeting place for the rebels. During a meeting of the rebels, Bristlefrost suspects the impostor did something to Shadowsight based upon what she's seen. Tigerstar and Dovewing are shocked, but Tigerstar quickly recovers and announces they must kill the impostor. Squirrelflight challenges him that she still has hope on Bramblestar and they shouldn't act so hastily. Tigerstar eventually agrees for now and ends the meeting. Unbeknownst to Tigerstar, Shadowsight is still alive albeit gravely injured. His ghost tries to gain his father's attention during the meeting, but he cannot hear him.
When Rootpaw discovers Shadowsight's body and brings him to SkyClan's camp, Fidgetflake mentions that someone should fetch Tigerstar and Dovewing and Rootpaw and Violetshine leave to fetch them. At the next rebel meeting, Tigerstar orders the rebels to not act until Shadowsight can wake up and explain what happened to him, but Breezepelt and a few others wonder who made Tigerstar in charge of them. Tigerstar is determined that the impostor was the one who tried to kill Shadowsight. He agrees not to act for now, but promises to defend his family against the impostor. Later, he sits outside the medicine cats' den for Rootspring's warrior ceremony. After, he purrs happily when Shadowsight begins to wake up. With Shadowsight informing the others about his experiences as a ghost and confronting the impostor, Tigerstar prepares to take his warriors to battle and tries to convince Leafstar to join him. She is still hesitant without further proof.

Darkness Within[]

Bramblestar's impostor.Template "I won't be thwarted. You saved my life, and because of that, you have ensured my success. Because once I'm back to full health, I'll be able to bend any cat to my will..."

The following content contains major spoilers for the true identity of Bramblestar's impostor. Please proceed at your own discretion.

Tigerstar waits at the Gathering for her to reveal who she thinks the imposter is. When she says that it is Ashfur, he doesn't understand why he would want anything to do with the Clans. He walks back to ShadowClan with his clanmates. He asks Squirrelflight what they are going to do to see if Ashfur is the imposter. They make up a plan and all the cats leave with only Squirrelflight and the imposter. The imposter reveals that he is Ashfur and that he wants Squirrelflight to come with him and that he should've gotten rid of Shadowsight in the first place.
Tigerstar, outraged with what Ashfur just said, jumps on him and yells at him and claws at him. Squirrelflight stops the fight and Ashfur is kept in ShadowClan as a prisoner. Tigerstar wants to kill Ashfur but respects Squirrelflight's wishes and stops from killing him. He sits vigil for the cats who died fighting in the battle against the imposter. He allows cats from other Clans guard Ashfur's den. Mothwing is said to have talked to Tigerstar about Shadowsight becoming an apprentice. Tigerstar, respecting the older medicine cat's words, takes away Shadowsight's title as medicine cat and makes him a medicine cat apprentice, much to his son's displeasure.
He then gives Shadowsight the duty of taking care of Ashfur. He goes to the Gathering where they talk about what to do with Ashfur. Many cats say kill him but Squirrelflight objects and Tigerstar reluctantly agrees to having the Sisters come, but doesn't want them on ShadowClan land. One of the Sisters brings up Tigerstar, although not by name, on why they shouldn't help the Clans because they don't like them. He is called when Lionblaze starts fighting with Ashfur and Shadowsight had to stop him to protect Bramblestar's body. He compliments Shadowsight for stopping Lionblaze and calls Shadowsight, Lionblaze, and Thriftear to his den. He scolds Lionblaze for trying to kill the imposter and scolds Thriftear for letting him.
He is told that the Sisters have arrived and comes into SkyClan camp and sits beside Leafstar, Squirrelflight, Mistystar, and Harestar. He watches the ritual with curiousness and is shocked when he hears that the ghosts of their fallen warriors' looked like they were in pain and were angry. He is told that Rootspring nor Tree saw Bramblestar but they saw Ashfur and he was the only cat not in pain. He asks if Ashfur can travel from Bramblestar's body to the living world as a ghost to which Rootspring says that he guesses he can and that Shadowsight saw him leave Bramblestar's body, but no one believes that Shadowsight saw what he says he saw. Tigerstar interrogates Ashfur but doesn't get anything out of him.
Hawkwing starts fighting the imposter for insulting Violetshine, Tree, and Rootspring. Shadowsight hopes his father will stop Hawkwing, but instead his father helps Hawkwing. He picks Ashfur up and flings across the clearing where the latter hits a tree. He claws at him and gives him nasty wounds. Shadowsight, trying to protect his body, rushes over and stops his father and Hawkwing from hurting Bramblestar's body even more. Tigerstar, surprised at his actions, tells Shadowsight to treat Ashfur.
Shadowsight wonders if Ashfur is dead but hears a faint heartbeat is relieved that his father didn't kill him. Tigerstar meets with Squirrelflight and tells her that the only way to get rid of the imposter and save Bramblestar is to kill Bramblestar's body. Squirrelflight feels defeated and Tigerstar looks at her with sadness and pity, knowing how hard it must be for her. She wishes for all the Clan leaders to agree before they kill him. They hold a Gathering where the leaders will decide. Tigerstar goes to the side where they kill the imposter. He watches as Squirrelflight goes to the side where they don't kill the imposter and watches as Harestar sits next to him. He watches Mistystar sit beside Squirrelflight and as Leafstar sits beside him and Harestar.
Tigerstar follows as Lionblaze leads the way back to the ShadowClan camp. He is stopped by Shadowsight when Lionblaze tells him to come out. He tries to tell his father what he saw but lets the imposter out, much to Tigerstar and Lionblaze's dismay. They search for the imposter as he gets away.

At the Gathering, Tigerstar announces the birth of Cinnamontail's kits and how they'll be keeping his own kits, Rowankit and Birchkit, in the nursery. The Clan leaders announce the new changes to the warrior code and instruct the medicine cats to speak to StarClan with their proposed changes. Tigerstar and Dovewing have previously scolded their daughter Lightleap for her increasingly reckless behavior, and when Shadowsight informs them about how Lightleap's latest stunt resulted in Sunbeam's back injury, Tigerstar and Dovewing admonish their daughter's behavior. Lightleap confronts Sunbeam for telling her parents, though Shadowsight corrects her that it was actually he who told their parents. Later, Tigerstar warns Sunbeam to not cause trouble since she went along with Lightleap's lie. When Sunbeam suspects a connection between Reedwhisker's disappearance and Lightleap's odd behavior, she decides against telling Tigerstar as to not cause any trouble. Berryheart confides with her daughter her worries about the changes to the warrior code benefiting cats like Tigerstar and his family the most.
At the next Gathering, the Clan leaders announced that StarClan has approved the new warrior code changes. When Fernstripe and Fringewhisker announce they plan on leaving their birth Clans to be with their mates in another Clan, Berryheart argues against this when Tigerstar admonishes her. Tigerstar supervises Fringewhisker's trial test to earn her place in ShadowClan, and welcomes her into ShadowClan when she passes. Berryheart and other senior warriors question the morality of the new changes, and Berryheart suspects that Tigerstar might be going along since Fringewhisker would be another warrior to protect his newest litter. Sunbeam wonders if Tigerstar aught to know about these challenging words, but falls short in telling him.

Bramblestar's Storm[]

During a Gathering, Tigerheart asks Ivypool where Dovewing is, and Ivypool, who is reluctant to answer Tigerheart, says that Dovewing is back in camp. Tigerheart wonders if she was with Bumblestripe, showing some knowledge of their relationship, but Ivypool spits that it's none of his business.
Soon, Tigerheart's father, Rowanclaw, becomes Clan leader after Blackstar loses his last life during the flood. Tigerheart is seen on a ShadowClan patrol, accompanied by Ratscar and ShadowClan's new deputy, Crowfrost, after Bramblestar arrives with some of his cats about the threat of kittypets.
Tigerheart fights in the battle against the badgers with the help of ThunderClan, and fights alongside Dovewing. Their teamwork does not go unnoticed, though, as Bramblestar is impressed with their seamless ability to work together, but becomes uneasy when he sees a very unusual closeness in how they worked together.
Tigerheart leads a border patrol with Stoatfur and Pinenose. They run into Bramblestar's patrol, who is taking Minty home. Although he gives them a warning about crossing borders, Tigerheart lets Bramblestar's patrol continue on their way without a fight. Bramblestar notices Tigerheart's gaze fixed on Dovewing, who is also part of their patrol, but Dovewing avoids his eyes. Bramblestar realizes that there is something different about what went on between them, but he has no idea what it could possibly be, and he is unable to imagine anything that could cause Dovewing's behavior to shift around Tigerheart.

Tigerheart's Shadow[]

Warning: Rippletail's appearances in Tigerheart's Shadow are a mistake as confirmed by Kate Cary and further installments in the canon. Slatefur was meant to be in the patrol traveling with Tigerheart.
As Tigerheart runs through the pine forest, his paws prick with worry. He tells himself that he needs to reach Dovewing, and he leaps over some roots. Tail slapping against tree trunks, and his legs battered by long grass, his dark fur prickles. Tigerheart's stomach tingles with nerves. He always grows tense when going too far from the camp. His beloved Clan is still rebuilding itself after Darktail's cruel reign, which ripped the Clan in two. The white rogue had tempted the younger cats away, then fought Rowanstar for leadership. ShadowClan turned on Tigerheart's father, and followed Darktail.
Tawnypelt and Tigerheart sought refuge in ThunderClan with Rowanstar, leaving the camp to Darktail. The white tom had turned ShadowClan into his 'Kin', and proved himself to be more dangerous then anyone expected. Tigerheart recalls the astounding numbers of missing or dead ShadowClan cats, before RiverClan suffered horribly as well. When he reaches Dovewing, he soon finds out that she is expecting his kits. Dovewing tells Tigerheart that she had a dream. Dovewing was in the nursery. The nests were old and tattered. Shadows start creeping from the corners, and they swallow the floor and nests. She runs outside, but the shadows follow. They reach through the entrance and lick the walls, growing darker and stronger until the whole nursery is covered in darkness.
Tigerheart reassures Dovewing that it was just a dream, but Dovewing objects. She says that she keeps on having the same dream, and every time she has it she knows it’s a sign. Tigerheart asks her if she asked Jayfeather or Alderheart about the dream, and she says she hasn’t because they might guess she’s expecting kits. Dovewing tells Tigerheart she knows what the dream means, that their kits must not be born in ThunderClan. Tigerheart recommends that they should be born in ShadowClan and she should join ShadowClan, but Dovewing disagrees. She means that they should leave the Clans. She claims that she dreamt where they should go. A huge Twolegplace with nests that reach into the sky. She saw a roof there with sharp points like gorse spines, and she says their kits will be safe there. Tigerheart disagrees, causing them to argue whether they should go or not. Tigerheart says that ShadowClan needs him. Dovewing confirms she’s leaving the next day. Tigerheart wonders who needs him the most.
The next day, Tigerheart, Grassheart, and Snowbird are hunting. Snowbird picks up a rabbit scent trail which was fresh. Tigerheart starts to worry about ShadowClan and its warriors. He is snapped away from his thoughts by Sandynose, a member of SkyClan standing at the border. He comments that squirrels in the forest are fast. He asks Tigerheart if they’re having better luck than them with prey, and Tigerheart replies with a not yet. Grassheart interrupts their conversation, noticing prey. A rabbit races pass Tigerheart. The rabbit crosses the SkyClan border, as Sandynose chases it. Grassheart calls Tigerheart a mouse-brain for letting the prey fall into another Clan’s hands. Snowbird catches up to them, saying that they drove it straight towards Tigerheart, and comments that she thought Rowanstar was the unreliable one. Grassheart agrees, with the line ‘Like father, like son’. Tigerheart protests, saying Rowanstar could out-hunt any of them, and that he was distracted. He is cut off by Snowbird scenting SkyClan, and growled if SkyClan was the distraction. Tigerheart answers, saying he was talking to Sandynose and Rabbitleap. Grassheart complains that he let the prey run into SkyClan’s paws. Tigerheart doesn’t reply, but he is irritated by his Clanmates.
After Sandynose and Rabbitleap return with the rabbit, Snowbird argues with Sandynose; Tigerheart catches her eye, warning her to be silent. As the dark brown tabby looks at her, he wonders if she is hungry enough to accept the rabbit from SkyClan. His belly aches with hunger since he hasn't eaten since sunhigh yesterday. Grassheart tells him the ShadowClan cats should take it and Tigerheart nods, saying it would have been their catch if he had been quicker. After the SkyClan cats return the rabbit and pad away, Tigerheart's pelt prickles with shame as his hunting mates discuss the SkyClan cats. He tells the white warrior they were lucky to have honorable warriors close by. Snowbird grumbles back that only he could see luck in losing half of ShadowClan's territory. Grassheart rolls her eyes at him and mentions that Snowbird will be fine when she sees Ratscar eating the rabbit.
Tigerheart scans the clearing when he returns to camp. He asks Whorlpaw where Ratscar is and the apprentice responds that he is patrolling with Juniperclaw. The deputy blinks at hearing this. Scorchfur asks if there is any more prey after he spots the rabbit and Tigerheart promises he and his party will go out soon. He glances at his parents and anxiously wonders if they should be leading a hunting patrol. The bramble entrance rustles and the deputy turns to see Juniperclaw leading Alderheart and Willowshine into the camp. The deputy sits down in the shadow of a rock and wonders if they brought news from StarClan. He listens as the medicine cats tell his father about a six-toed cat. Anxiety pricks his pelt as he thinks about persuading Dovewing to stay. He is jerked from his thoughts by an angry hiss. Scorchfur and Tawnypelt begin fighting; Tigerheart jumps between them and pushes the dark gray tom away from his mother. The tom asks Tawnypelt if she is okay and sees blood welling by her eye. Relief sweeps him when Puddleshine takes her to the medicine den, hardly believing that one Clanmate had tried to blind another. Tigerheart feels guilt for thinking about Dovewing. Puddleshine and Rowanstar approach him; he asks the medicine cat if Tawnypelt is okay. Puddleshine responds by saying he put herbs on her wound. He then says that there is something he needs to share with both Rowanstar and him.

Dovewing's Silence[]

Tigerheart is first seen when the leaders bring the cats who trained together in the Dark Forest together, sitting with Ratscar. As Bramblestar starts speaking, Dovewing feels warmth on her pelt and turns to see Tigerheart gazing at her, and she thinks to herself that he is one complication that she doesn't need. While Mistystar and Onestar decide to forgive their warriors abruptly, Blackstar protests against Ratscar and Tigerheart and states that they betrayed their Clan with sorrow in his eyes. Even after Ivypool explains, Blackstar is reluctant to forgive Tigerheart and Ratscar and avoids looking at them as the two toms stare at him in dismay. As the cats leave, Tigerheart catches Dovewing's eye with a swarm of questions in his gaze but the she-cat turns her head away, as he is part of the past, just like the battle with the Dark Forest.
Tigerheart appears again when the cats come for their first Gathering since the Great Battle. Dovewing finds herself searching for his dark tabby pelt and finds him deep in conversation with Shrewfoot, and notes that the pretty gray cat was gazing up at him as if Tigerheart was telling her a big secret. Dovewing pushes down the jealousy and tells herself that it was good that Tigerheart had been forgiven by his Clanmates and accepts that any connection they had shared was now over.

Tawnypelt's Clan[]

Tigerstar admonishes his kits for being too loud and Juniperclaw for scolding Dovewing. Tawnypelt grows frustrated with Tigerstar and the rest of the Clan refusing to listen to her, such as Tigerstar already sending out hunting patrols without Tawnypelt's knowledge. He asks her to help rebuild the dens, though Tawnypelt wishes instead to go hunting. Tawnypelt heatedly takes a break when Juniperclaw and Stonewing listen to Tigerstar's suggestion instead of hers. Tigerstar confronts her about Tawnypelt's irritation and confuses it with his mother believing she should've been leader instead. Their conversation is stopped when Dovewing screams for help due to Shadowkit's seizure.
Tigerstar sits with Shadowkit as he sleeps until Tawnypelt takes over and comforts Shadowkit during his next vision. Puddleshine confesses his fears about being unable to properly treat Shadowkit and Tigerstar agrees with Dovewing to ask Leafpool for help. After Shadowkit explains his vision more clearly, Tawnypelt believes he's referring to the Tribe of Rushing Water. Tigerstar is hesitant to believe Tawnypelt's conclusion, and he explains Shadowkit's visions to the rest of the Clan. He silences the discussion about Tawnypelt's place as deputy with a shout, explaining it was his choice.
When Tawnypelt suggests to bring Shadowkit to the Tribe and Dovewing agrees with her, Tigerstar refuses to listen to them and forbids them to take Shadowkit away. Tawnypelt attempts to take Shadowkit herself in the middle of the night, but is stopped by Dovewing. Tigerstar and Tawnypelt argue, and Tawnypelt accuses him of being a tyrant like Tigerstar, his grandfather. Dovewing agrees to journey with them, much to Tigerstar's horror.
During the journey, Tawnypelt reflects about her kits, including "stubborn, good-hearted" Tigerstar and how much she loved him and his siblings. At the Tribe, Tawnypelt explains that Tigerstar is leader of ShadowClan now and that Shadowkit is his and Dovewing's son. When Tawnypelt briefly considers staying in the Tribe, Rowanclaw visits her in her dreams. He convinces her to give Tigerstar more time to lead.
On their way back to the Clans, Dovewing worries how Tigerstar would react but Tawnypelt assures her Tigerstar will forgive her. When they arrive back in camp, Tigerstar stares wordlessly at Dovewing until Shadowkit barges into him in greeting. Tigerstar warmly welcomes him as Shadowkit explains their adventure. Tigerstar thanks Tawnypelt and Dovewing and is shocked when Tawnypelt steps down. She explains her son needs a new deputy who would focus on ShadowClan's future and not its past.

Spotfur's Rebellion[]

Stemleaf begins to consider if Tigerstar was right about killing Bramblestar, though Spotfur quiets him. She then notes that Tigerstar was the only leader who agreed to fight the false Bramblestar, believing that he had murdered his son, Shadowsight. Later, during a rebel meeting, Tigerstar agrees that they must wait for Shadowsight to wake up before doing anything, demanding patience from anyone heavily wishing for Bramblestar's death. He soon leaves with the other SkyClan cats in order to check up on Shadowsight. After the failed assassination attempt on Bramblestar, Tigerstar angrily scolds the rebels for their impatience and costing them valuable advantages.

In the Field Guides[]

Battles of the Clans[]

He is seen teaching Olivepaw, Scorchpaw, Redpaw, Owlpaw, and Shrewpaw about the Night Ambush battle tactic. When Scorchpaw snores, he tells him it's not as funny as he thinks it is. Then, when Tigerheart tells them to listen, Scorchpaw says he hears ThunderClan snoring, but Tigerheart tells him that the day that Blackstar receives a prophecy that a cat can hear farther than other creatures, then he'll believe him. He says that they should make a sssss noise, like the wind, to disguise themselves from the other cats. Tigerheart tells them that they must stay hidden under the shadows, so no light can uncover their outlines. When they all attack Tigerheart, he ends up underneath them all. He then ends the story.
In the book, his father, Rowanclaw, is listed as ShadowClan's new deputy after Russetfur dies.

The Ultimate Guide[]

Tigerheart is mentioned on the pages of several cats. On Dovewing's section, it tells that she had gone with him on the journey to get rid of the beaver dam, and that their friendship deepened when they went home. She couldn't keep herself from visiting the ShadowClan warrior. However, soon she saw a future with her friend, Bumblestripe, who would be a better choice, as he was from her own Clan. On Blackstar's page, it mentions that Lionblaze, Hollyleaf and Jaypaw schemed with Tigerpaw and Dawnpaw to create a false message to StarClan.
He is again brought into account on his mother, Tawnypelt's page, where it says that Rowanclaw had fathered him and his littermates, Dawnpelt and Flametail. The same thing is said on Flametail's profile, that he had been his littermate and helped with the fake StarClan sign to restore Blackstar's faith in StarClan.
