"I cannot join you. There is someone I need to wait for. I hope there is a place where we can be together, even though he is not a Clan cat." |
— Ravenpaw to Bluestar in Ravenpaw's Farewell, chapter 9 |
Beyond StarClan and the Place of No Stars, there is another unnamed afterlife in the Warriors franchise where characters go after they die.[1][2] This is commonly used for non-Clan characters, such as kittypets,[1] rogues,[3] or loners.[2] Not much is known about this unnamed afterlife beyond its existence, or whether more than one exists, but cats are capable of visiting from there to StarClan; after refusing a place in StarClan to stay with Barley, Lionheart told Ravenpaw that he and Barley would always be welcomed in StarClan as visitors.[2] All of the afterlives are connected by the River of Spirits.[4] Other territories include forests, a bleak moorland, islands in lakes, and land with meandering streams.[5]
There may even be a separate afterlife for kittypets;[blog 1] following Shanty's death, Pinestar hopes that she will end up in an afterlife.[6] Onestar thinks the same when he learns of Bailey's death, and he hopes she knows that her son Brushpaw is in StarClan.[7] The Sisters might have their own afterlife as well; Snow tells Squirrelflight that Moonlight's ghost will journey with them until her kits are grown before parting ways.[8]
Known examples[]
- "I may not be able to walk with you in StarClan, but I can be here for this moment. Come on, old friend. Come with me. I can't stay with you, but I'll see you safely to StarClan."
- ―Jake to Tallstar Tallstar's Revenge, comic
- Tom: Tom was a former kittypet who was briefly part of Clear Sky's group. After his death, Tom went to an afterlife with other kittypets.[blog 1]
- Mole: Mole was a rogue who visited WindClan every greenleaf with his companions. After his death, Mole appeared in StarClan to grant Tallstar one of his nine lives before disappearing to his own residence.[3]
- Jake: Following Tallstar's death, Jake guided his friend's spirit to StarClan as he was unable to reside in StarClan himself.[1]
- Tadpole: Tadpole was the son of Tigerstar and Sasha who drowned in a Twoleg nest. Tigerstar confirmed in Sasha's dreams that their son was safe in an unknown afterlife.[9]
- Ravenpaw: Ravenpaw was offered a place in StarClan when he died, but the black loner refused so he could be with his partner Barley.[2] Ravenpaw briefly visited StarClan to grant Bramblestar one of his nine lives.[10]
- Gremlin: Gremlin was a former BloodClan cat. She appeared to Petunia, WarriorClan's medicine cat, at the shattered Moonstone, though it was unclear in the text whether she was from StarClan.[11]
- Marigold: When Petunia asks about Marigold at the Moonstone, Gremlin tells her that Marigold is with her, though it is unclear from the text what Petunia's relationship is with Marigold and what species she is.[11]
No residence[]
- The unnamed residence is separate from cats who do not reside in any afterlife. These include faded cats, cats whose spirits have died a second time and are gone forever, such as Beetlewhisker,[12] Spottedleaf,[13] Tigerstar,[14] Hawkfrost,[15] Brokenstar,[16] Shredtail,[17] Antpelt,[18] Snowtuft,[19] Redwillow,[20] Darkstripe,[21] Darktail,[22] Ashfur,[23] and Bristlefrost.[24] According to the beliefs of the wildcats, spirits who no longer exist become part of the elements: the earth, air, and water.[25]
Quotes[]
- «[Pinestar] knew he wouldn't find Shanty in StarClan, however much he dreamed. That was not where kittypets went at the end of their lives. Wherever you are, I hope you are warm and safe, and can see me. The thought that Shanty might have vanished into nothingness was too much for Pinestar to bear.»

- Sasha: "Tigerstar...you know about Tadpole?"
- Tigerstar: "...Yes."
- Return to the Clans, page 52
