Beetlewhisker

Beetlewhisker does not have his AVOS sections listed on his article, and although he did die, it is still his article and is still the same character, mistake or not. Should he not have those sections listed? He still appears - and Heavystep has his appearances as well, despite dying. Appledash the light of honor 00:42, June 14, 2018 (UTC)

I think we should list them for both characters, since we kept Rippletail's appearance in TS despite it being contradicted. madie the wicked witch of the west

A mistake is a mistake, and Kate herself has even said more than once that these appearances are mistakes for Beetlewhisker. I'm sorry, but I feel we should not be documenting mistakes on in the history sections, as we do not document mistakes for the infoboxes up top. Jayce(06:47, 6/16/2018)

Then there should be a page or a section somewhere that details Beetlewhisker’s appearances because omitting him is omitting information. Appledash the light of honor 21:11, June 16, 2018 (UTC)

maybe you could add another subsection the mistakes page that has detailed errors like this? like "detailed character errors" or something thats beyond the usual pelt error colours. david 🌈 21:18, June 16, 2018 (UTC)

hmm yeah I like that idea^^ cats like Rippletail do need a section to detail said error imo, because for his in particular, he played a decent role even though it wasn't supposed to happen spooky is that... a furry cat?!? 02:58, 6/19/2018

Any more comments? ♥ Star red and black <03:44, 7/03/2018> 03:44, 7/03/2018

I feel the agreement is to include it in a separate section, or at least include it in general...should we make a subpage? Something like "Beetlewhisker/Appearance Errors" and then document when he appears post-The Last Hope? Given he's not just allegiance only, has an apprentice, and was confirmed to be the same Beetlewhisker by Kate. Jayce(04:05, 7/09/2018)

I was scrolling on Riordan wiki and noticed at the top of Apollo's page, how they have a template that separates his greek and roman forms. Perhaps we could do something like that for Beetlewhisker? Keep everything on one page and make another page for his history errors, while having something at the top of the page to direct us easily between the two.

PatchfeatherHangar 18, I know too much 03:00, July 18, 2018 (UTC)

that could definitely work, and this could easily be used on Rippletail as well. ♥ Star red and black <23:46, 8/09/2018> 23:46, 8/09/2018

I agree^^ And we can code a similar switch to that as well, it's not that hard to make.spooky is that... a furry cat?!?  11:17, August 22, 2018 (UTC)

Fringepaw

so fringepaw is listed twice so far as brown and white vs a one off mention of black, maybe this should be changed? david 🌈 07:10, November 6, 2018 (UTC)

A bit late, but yeah, I'm starting to think her description needs to be changed, given the mentions for what we currently have as a mistake outnumber her black description. Jayce(01:19, 11/25/2018)

I don't see anything wrong with changing her description to brown and white since there are more "mistake" mentions of her description than the black one. If it goes back to black in the new arc, we can always change it or decide then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Vec I am Iron Man! 👾 16:36, December 3, 2018 (UTC)

Given the only two comments in the almost month this was up are in favor, and no one else has commented, I've gone ahead and switched the descriptions and moved the images. Since black was used when we had the cites for the other images, they all stay, and she'll need a kit and a loner image for her new description. Jayce(03:05, 12/05/2018)

The brief history placement

would anyone be willing to go with putting the brief history sections before the main history itself? some of the characters have too much to be put where they are right now, and could just be put as brief summary then detailed summary underneath it. david 🌈 21:48, November 11, 2018 (UTC)

I agree with making the character summaries as brief as possible, but some of the characters like Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Tigerstar have been main characters in a LOT of books, and it's really hard to compress that information into a very brief few paragraph summary. Echo suggested earlier that we should have some kind of toggle/subpage for the character summaries and character histories. Maybe we should discuss that again? HAWKFIRE 22:00, November 11, 2018 (UTC)

As the author of Lionblaze and Jayfeather's summaries, I have repeatedly said that I don't feel comfortable shortening them due to the fact that they are protagonists for 12 books and that I spent a lot of time trying to condense the events of 12 books into a summary. I'll be fine taking out redundant information, but I don't think there's a way to shorten them and keep them in high quality. I know people are referring to those two pages when saying this, and I don't really want the summaries touched that much since I worked really hard on them, if that makes sense. To combat the length of pages, I suggested making subpage toggles for the main characters in the series so that the pages don't get too long, like Hawkey stated above. —Echobelle we cast off tomorrow! () 22:04, November 11, 2018 (UTC)

Hmm I don't see that trolly meant to say they wanted them shortened, only that they'd be placed differently on the page because of the length they happen to be. I'm heavily against subpaging, simply because of the sheer amount of extra pages that would make. Not to mention the extra workload, having to sort out precisely which cats qualify and don't, and having some have it and some not would add a layer of inconsistency to our pages. I know it'd only be done for characters with the most appearances, but having that extra amount of clutter seems unnecessary to me, as it would inevitably involve tabbers of some type. Every layer of these makes it harder for inexperienced users to edit. As for the summaries, there is a delicate balance to be struck between length and quality, for them to serve their purpose as intended in the original discussion; I believe that all summaries should be improved to their best, even if it means others tweaking it, by either lengthening, shortening, grammar, or otherwise. We're all proud of our works, but we are a collaborative wiki, after all.spooky is that... a furry cat?!?  23:31, November 11, 2018 (UTC)

no, I didn't want to shorten them. just wanted to move them down so they aren't looking odd like some of the longer ones are now. david 🌈 06:15, November 26, 2018 (UTC)

Hopekit and Wishkit

So, the cite that confirmed which kit was which seems to have expired. Is anyone else able to see this page, because I've looked under my main account and a dummy one that I have, and I haven't been able to see this. If it's expired, what do we do? Should we just remove the information like we have before? Jayce(03:01, 12/05/2018)

Was the link to a post on one of the author's pages? If we figured out what the source is we could maybe find it again but I'm not sure... —Echobelle we cast off tomorrow! (03:13, 12/05/2018)

It was posted to Vicky's page, but I don't remember if it was Vicky herself or if it was a guest post. I've noticed that some of the cites have vanished over the years... sometimes, if the user who asked deactivated their Facebook account (or drastically changed their privacy settings), it removes the post entirely and the general public doesn't have access to it anymore. Jayce(03:15, 12/05/2018)

Yeah I tried to look and this is the only thing that an author has replied to regarding Hopekit and Wishkit, and she states she doesn't know the descriptions so I think the information should be removed. —Echobelle we cast off tomorrow! (03:17, 12/05/2018)

Since the link is now expired, and I personally have no idea what post the comment originated on, I'd say go ahead and remove the information for now until someone finds it again. Was there anything other information that cite provided, though? I know sometimes facebook comments can have multiple pieces of information sometimes. Vec I am Iron Man! 👾 03:18, December 5, 2018 (UTC)

It clarified which kit was stillborn and which kit wound up living for a brief moment. It doesn't null the articles themselves (since Vicky revealed their names elsewhere), but it does take a chunk of content out of both Wishkit and Hopekit's pages.. hence why I was asking before I did something, to make sure that others were seeing the same things I was. Jayce(03:22, 12/05/2018)

For some reason I thought it was about their descriptions... whoops. But regardless of my error, I think it'd be a safe bet to remove that information since the cite is expired. —Echobelle we cast off tomorrow! (03:24, 12/05/2018)

Yeah since we no longer have the cite for it, the articles should be changed to account for it.Stealthf🔥re ❤Warriors Forever!❤ 00:00, December 7, 2018 (UTC)

Possible Valid Cite

Hello guys. So I recently asked Kate on BlogClan about a certain amount of cats that went to StarClan, and she said yes. So.. is the cite valid? I will link it here:

https://blogclan.katecary.co.uk/blogclan-tavern-5/comment-page-482/#comments

Heyoitpotater (talk) 23:12, December 6, 2018 (UTC)

She doesn't say 'yes'. If you're going to ask, please quote her properly. She says "I can't see why [they] wouldn't be, can you?" meaning the answer is left as an open-ended question, so I personally don't think this citation should be counted, since she didn't say yes. Jayce(23:14, 12/06/2018)

I don't think it would be, since it seems to be a in a form of a question. Minkclaw Winter is coming. 23:15, December 6, 2018 (UTC)

In my opinion, I think it is a worthy cite. Appledash the light of honor 23:24, December 6, 2018 (UTC)

How, though? Many other cites over the years have been removed from this wiki based on the fact a clear "yes" was not stated, or it could be subjective depending on the views. I'm really not sure how this cite is any different; it does not answer yes to the question stated. Jayce(23:26, 12/06/2018)

I'm on the fence about this... On one hand my bias wants to say it's valid, but her wording makes it feel iffy. She is heavily implying that she thinks they are, but she's leaving it up to interpretation. —Echobelle we cast off tomorrow! (23:43, 12/06/2018)

It feels too vague honestly. It's not really a confirmation, more like a question than anything else.Stealthf🔥re ❤Warriors Forever!❤ 00:02, December 7, 2018 (UTC)

I don't think it's valid, due to the wording and lack of a firm affirmation. In the past, our standard for taking these has always been a clear 'yes', while this is kinda like 'I don't see why not'.spooky is that... a furry cat?!?  00:58, December 7, 2018 (UTC)

I'm standing with Icy. I believe that what Kate said is valid enough. If she said she can't see why they wouldn't be, that sounds like a yes to me. I'm pretty sure she's said the same thing before with characters in StarClan. I'm sorry but I think it's valid.Heyoitpotater (talk) 02:38, December 7, 2018 (UTC)

I also think it's valid, as I believe Kate is saying there's no reason they wouldn't be in StarClan. Hawkfire Happy Days ( 02:44, 12/07/2018 ) 02:44, December 7, 2018 (UTC)

We've always used a clear "yes" for our citations, even if it sorta implies that they are. But this wiki has always run on clear, concise 100% confirmation; we rarely, if at all, assume anything here, and I think that applies to this cite imo. Vec I am Iron Man! 👾 03:15, December 7, 2018 (UTC)

I think this should count as a cite, but that's just my opinion. I'm not expecting you to agree with me. JayI hope they remember you....ϟ 05:14, 12/07/2018
