This is the Project Character Art Approvals Page
Place new character art for approval here. Discussions should be routed to the discussion page, while all Art tweaks should be routed to the tweak page, and all Tweak nominations should be routed to the nominations page.
Here are some guidelines all users must comply with:
The limit is 60 images. If you exceed it, your image will be immediately declined.
Your image is yours until it is archived, do not reserve a new one until yours has completed CBA and/or has been archived due to other matters.
If your image has been declined due to the one month limit, you must wait two weeks to reclaim your image. This gives other users the chance to work on it if they wish.
If your image has gone less than five (5) days without comments, please do not ask for comments or a CBA. It is common to go a couple consecutive days without comments before a CBA is set into place. To ask before the five day timespan has passed puts your image at risk of being declined.
Please do not align your images! This messes up the structure of the page.
Reuploaded. I edited the heading, added shading to the left ear, and boosted the opacity of the texturing from 20% to 30%! ..but i'm not sure how to sharpen the texture. --Hopewish (talk) 16:28, June 10, 2020 (UTC)
For the texture, you can probably duplicate the layer and set it on a different opacity to sharpen it up. --SummerflowerCool forthe Summer 16:38, June 10, 2020 (UTC)
Reuploaded. okay, I duplicated the texture layer and moved it to the right.. it should look a bit better now? --Hopewish (talk) 18:49, June 10, 2020 (UTC)
I'm not seeing a difference. Try darkening your texture layers, and while this is optional, perhaps make the texture white to help it stand out? --SummerflowerCool forthe Summer 18:58, June 10, 2020 (UTC)
The texture lines look to perfect. They should look more like scribbles
Oh, and add texture on the —> back paw and on the muzzle
okay.. I can do that! do I need to redo the entire texture? or are there some parts where it looks fine? --Hopewish (talk) 02:08, June 12, 2020 (UTC)
Similar with Quick Water, the texture does not match. It appears softer, not as linear as Glacier said, and there appear to be different hues in it? VecI am Iron Man!👾 15:55, June 12, 2020 (UTC)
huh, that's.. weird? I used the airbrush tool on Firealpaca and set it for 1px (I think that's what the guide said to use?). also I think there's different hues because I duplicated the texture, shifted it to the right, and lightened the opacity for sharpness (which didn't work that well I guess), but I only used one color (black) for both
I really want to contribute to the charart project but i'm horribly inexperienced about the texture --Hopewish (talk) 20:28, June 12, 2020 (UTC)
Unfortunately you may have chosen a tricky piece to start with, as Crowfeather's texture seems a bit tricky imo. I use Firealpaca too, and I would maybe try use a pencil tool at varying opacities or the waterbrush tool at a low size. Make sure "AntiAliasing" is turned on at the top too. VecI am Iron Man!👾 21:30, June 12, 2020 (UTC)
The texture lines are looking a bit too uniform, they should be slightly more messy and random. Try doing each layer separately? --WavetailYa Yeet 00:11, June 14, 2020 (UTC)
(anti-aliasing is on for me, and yes, I just now realized how challenging Crowfeather's texture is haha) alrighty, i'll try to make a more messy texture! does any of the shading need to be re-adjusted or is it fine? and are there any areas where the texture is okay and is safe to keep, or do I need to redo all of it? --Hopewish (talk) 02:25, June 14, 2020 (UTC)
Reuploaded. okay, I redid the entire texture with the watercolor tool at 0.5 instead of the airbrush tool at 1.. I hope this looks a bit better! if I need to readjust the opacity then please let me know! -Hopewisha dream is a wish your heart makes 05:55, June 16, 2020 (UTC)
As per the guidelines, this is more than done enough to be changed to "for approval", and I'll promote you to an apprentice. —Jayce( 03:15, 6/18/2020 )
Reuploaded. thank you Jayce! also I added even darker shading, and added highlighted texture! if I need to darken the base color any, or add something else to the texture, or change anything at all, please don't hesitate to let me know! -Hopewisha dream is a wish your heart makes 05:39, June 18, 2020 (UTC)
I know What Your Missing On The Warriors Pic it Seems His Fur is Actully lighter than His Legs?!Ravenripple13 (talk) 05:58, June 18, 2020 (UTC)
i'm not sure I quite understand what you mean? do you mean there's more light highlights on his legs for his warrior image, therefore I need to add more on here, or are you talking about something else? -Hopewisha dream is a wish your heart makes 19:00, June 18, 2020 (UTC)
Raven, that’s just the shading and highlights that are unique to the warrior. Hope doesn’t need to change the refugee, a completely different image, to reflect that. —Sleekfang 19:10, June 18, 2020 (UTC)
The texture still does not match the set. It still appears rougher, messier and bit thicker. VecI am Iron Man!👾 22:52, June 24, 2020 (UTC)
I was describing the set, yeah. But also a reminder that you have ten days between uploads (or a month overall) before the image will be declined. VecI am Iron Man!👾 11:29, June 25, 2020 (UTC)
Reuploaded. sorry about that Vec! I redid the texture for a third time, this time using the pencil brush (the same brush that was used in the firealpaca texture tutorials), so the texturing should look softer now, and the lines also are thicker.. is there anything else I need to add or take away? -Hopewisha dream is a wish your heart makes 20:25, June 25, 2020 (UTC)
of all the things I remembered to do, I forgot about defining the light source.. and honestly I can't really even tell what direction it's going in because I forgot- could you maybe go into a bit more detail on what parts I need to change? i'm so sorry -Hopewisha dream is a wish your heart makes 04:14, June 30, 2020 (UTC)
Well, let's say the light source is coming from the top right corner, shining down onto his back. You would make his back lighter than the shaded parts on his legs and chest. But it depends where the light source is coming from. Does that help? --SilverfeatherSpring Time! 15:25, June 30, 2020 (UTC)Silverykittencat
Reuploaded. I understand now! (i hope), I smudged the texture lines a little, so they should look softer now, and I added a light gray shading on his back and on his haunches.. however i'm not sure if I needed to shade the ear too since it's in front of the light source (right..?) so I didn't, but that can be easily changed if needed! -Hopewisha dream is a wish your heart makes 05:41, July 1st, 2020 (UTC)
Reuploaded. so somehow at the very beginning of me making this image, I forgot to delete the white off of the lineart layer? I had that layer on "Multiply" this whole time hah- not only that, but I forgot to name the file properly, so the file is now appropriately named "Crowfeather.refugee.png" instead of "Crowfeather refugee.png".. is there anything else I need to change? -Hopewisha dream is a wish your heart makes 04:31, July 2, 2020 (UTC)
