Here are some guidelines all users must comply with Make sure to follow the guidelines The limit is 50 images, regardless if some are CBAed or withdrawn. If you exceed it, your image will be immediately declined. Your image is yours until it is archived, do not reserve a new one until yours has completed CBA If your image has been declined due to the one month limit, you must wait two weeks to reclaim your image. This gives other users the chance to work on it if they wish.

Well the same thing happened with a lot of alts, including Bluestar's. Sometimes as the members change, our opinions change I guess. Desaturate the earpink slightly and make the torn ear follow the line of the back of the ear more, if that makes any sense. Just make sure the left side of the torn ear doesn't flip back unnaturally. llwildheart™l22:36 Sun Jan 1

I'm sorry to interrupt CBA but I really do think that the stripes need to be tilted down more. The hind leg is stretched down, not compressed up, so the stripes should be stretched with the body, not compressed into basically flat lines. llwildheart™l01:59 Wed Jan 25

Listen, they are slanted. And even Paleh agrees they are fine. I don't want to argue and this is reaching the one month mark and i don't have much time to redo them any way. The shading appears blue tinted. If you use layers, make sure you check the box in the transparency lock, then make sure you bucket fill the shading black. The shading placement seems odd. The highlight on the haunch is facing downward, so the shoulder highlight should too. Because, right now, it seems as if you have to light sources, one coming from upward and one coming from downward. If the haunch highlight stays as it is, then the shoulder highlight should be moved a little more downward, and possibly eliminate the highlights along the back. If you don't want to change too much, then I suggest moving the haunch highlight upward more. But, I might be wrong, the haunch highlight seems to be facing downward, if true, change that the way I said to.  Stoneclaw    01:27, January 16, 2012 (UTC)

This is gonna be kinda hard to explain.... oh boy. XD Well, first off the shoulder bone that's sticking up should be on the other side of the body. If you think about it, since he's standing on the far front leg, that shoulder would be push up more. Since the one closest is being stretched out, you wouldn't be able to see the shoulder really at all. And the haunch shouldn't have anything sticking up at the top. It just kinda molds together with the rest of the rump, no bumps. Also, cats tend to have spines and bellies that curve upwards. The belly doesn't taper like a dog's. And on the back leg, that little bit that sticks out, you know, right below the tail? Should be a lot shorter. here's a good reference. It's a kit, yes, but it should help with what the basic anatomy should look like. Also, could you make the neck shorter, and maybe make him look up a bit more? He looks kinda sad. He wouldn't be looking down while walking probably, so it'd probably be more realistic looking forward too. Paleclaw makes good critiques. X3 Tell me if you need a redlining. First thing I have to say, is that when you look at a cat, its body is sleek and streamline. In all honesty, yours looks almost more like a dog. A cat's back, like Paley said, slowly slopes upwards. I doesn't make that dip like you put into yours. Besides making the neck shorter, could you also move the head up a tad. I don't think I've ever seen a cat walk with its head that far down. Maybe make it level with the body? The entire front leg needs to be moved down and shortened. And when you redo the back legs, make sure to line up the front elbow and the knee. Besides what Paley said, you put an extra joint in the in them - they should just end with the paw. The legs on the other side need a little work, too, but it'll be easier to tell what once the front are done. I don't mind the head in a low-slung, cautious stalk position, but this uber-humble ground-staring the blank is doing should stop ;) make it prouder, so that he's either hunting or moving with purpose, not slinking along not even watching to prevent something from eating him! Also, the proportion of leg-length to body-length is... well... off. Cats a long-bodied, low-slung animals. The proportions you've got are much more canine. This image demonstrates what I'm talking about in the proportions. I'm guessing you're more used to drawing dogs (just based on the anatomy choices you're making), and the transition is hard (I've been working on learning cats for years, they're just difficult to draw, IMO). The tail set is much better than it was on the original, but I think shortening it was a mistake. It's simply too short in proportion to the body now to represent the "average" cat tail. To me, if it's going to be hunting, the ears should be perked to pin point their prey. Also, the neck just seems weird to me. the change in the position of the head is very nice. It's good that those four-leaf clovers are safe again ;) Then, I'm going to talk about the points of it I consider "weird" again. I'm not going to tell you how to fix them, just what to consider as you work forward. Nitpicking and telling you what I think will fix it isn't going to help you any. *cough* The points i've got for you are the hips, and how those connect to the tail and the legs. There's something off there, and I think it's because you've drawn doggy hips on the kitty. I'm not exactly sure, but it might be as simple as where the tail is set on the hips. I suggest playing with it. The next point is the front shoulders. That whole near-side foreleg just looks off. I know people have been picking at it and telling you to adjust it, but stop listening to them, take it off and redraw it. It's only gotten worse since you started on their incremental fixes. Part of the issue might be that you've take bad advice (putting the bend in the paw so it's rolled under even though the cat's at the part of the step where he's reaching forward to lay his paw down). To aid in forward progress, I present you with some refs: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] In the future, if a change makes the blank worse, or you know it's going to make it worse rather than better, just don't do it and state why. This is Crit, not a demand session. You're the artist, in the end it's your job to make the blank perfect. These are lookin' very nice, Mountain! Here's a fairly good canine vs. feline anatomy tutorial if you need some help with those back legs: Here. The main thing I see is that your hocks are still too far up on the leg. Both the femur and whatever the heck it's called, the bone between the knee and the hock, are almost the same length. Also, the back looks oddly flat and straight. Though by no means should the back dip like a horse's, I'd add a little big of roundness to the haunch area. Also, the front leg on the ground looks stiff. I think moving it back a tad will help, so that it looks more like the bone connecting the elbow to the shoulder is there. As it is, you have the leg directly below the shoulder, and that doesn't really happen. Also, show the cat's ribcage a little on the belly. Don't make it tuck up like a canine's, but right now it's a straight line - give it slightly more shape and roundness. Help it show how a cat's skin connects with the legs. Also, don't touch the closest shoulder anymore. And if you're gonna have the front leg extended, I'd think you need to drop the elbow a small amount and smooth out the "wrist" joint. Maybe drop the head also? So that the spine is sorta level. What you have is okay-correct, but I just think that it would help with the slinking look. Re-uploaded I must be the lamest person ever *had to go look up what a hock was* -_- Anyway I'm pretty sure I fixed it. Thank you so much for that tutorial Breezy! ^^ It helped me alot. Now, I took Kit's advice and changed things on my own accord. I moved the belly down a little and added some fluffy part to the side of the face. I changed the position of the shoulder and front leg farthest away. There might be waste but I'll remove it after 24 hours of no comments. Feel free to disagree, I suck with cat anatomy, but perhaps made the hock on the cat's left hind leg slightly more pointier. Maybe make the shoulder not as close to the upper arm or back (I am so dumb I can't even tell where it's coming from). Maybe make the image slightly more like this one (exept for the tail, back, neck and head). Notice how you can see that it is putting it's weight onto its left front leg. Define that by bringing the paw forward more. and bring the cat's right hind leg closer to the ground like it's walking. Actually, on most cats (not all) the hock is fairly rounded and soft from what I've seen. I think that part's fine. But could you thicken the lineart on the floofy parts a bit and make it more.... fur like, and less uniform and spiky? I luff this so much. <3 Paleh Send help 23:00, January 26, 2012 (UTC)
