This is the Project Character Art Approvals Page
Place new character art for approval here. Discussions should be routed to the discussion page, while all Art tweaks should be routed to the tweak page, and all Tweak nominations should be routed to the nominations page.
Here are some guidelines all users must comply with:
The limit is 60 images. If you exceed it, your image will be immediately declined.
Your image is yours until it is archived, do not reserve a new one until yours has completed CBA and/or has been archived due to other matters.
If your image has been declined due to the one month limit, you must wait two weeks to reclaim your image. This gives other users the chance to work on it if they wish.
If your image has gone less than five (5) days without comments, please do not ask for comments or a CBA. It is common to go a couple consecutive days without comments before a CBA is set into place. To ask before the five day timespan has passed puts your image at risk of being declined.
Please do not align your images! This messes up the structure of the page.
Please use this section to put images up for approval only.
Unknown Residence Blank - For Approval
Did I do the title right? Idk. Thanks to everyone who voted for my blank, the other entries were amazing as well! I plan on making the ears a little smaller, shortening the tail slightly, and shortening the leg that shows the paw pads. - JArtz11Oblivious to EVERYTHING! 16:29, July 4, 2019 (UTC)
Could you shorten the outer lineart by maybe a pixel or two? Seems a little thick compared to the rest. VecI am Iron Man!👾 20:20, July 4, 2019 (UTC)
The floof on the longhair could be made less spiky and more round. GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 20:23, July 4, 2019 (UTC)
I actually disagree? It's not so much sharper than say the elder, healer, or unknown residence. Unless others disagree with me. VecI am Iron Man!👾 20:27, July 4, 2019 (UTC)
i think the longhair looks fine, i would just ythin the outer lineart like vec said and i think it would be perf! tyb 🌌owo??? 20:32, July 4, 2019 (UTC)Tybaxel
I think the longhair could be a little... less spiky/more smooth. Just a little bit, though (on the back of the head in particular). ❀ Gender🎕⚘🎜🎜🏵and proud!❀ 22:41, July 4, 2019 (UTC)
For the longhair's fluffy back, could you make it less... dense for the lack of a better word? I'm inclined to think that the fur wouldn't sit that high in this sort of position, meaning it wouldn't really differ much from the shorthair's fur in that spot? It's normally more around the neck areas, and belly that the fur is noticeably longer. — max烈火國(07:11, 24/7/2019)
Around the outer edge (frame, I guess) of the longhaired, could you ensure that it's roughly 2px all the way about? Seems thick still in some spots —spookyis that... a furry cat?!?13:56, 7/24/2019
I think <<< this space on the shorthair's side should be cropped a tiny bit. --GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 18:58, July 27, 2019 (UTC)
Reuploaded Oof sorry been super busy lately. Im not sure I have to fix the crop now? If this is approved can i do it then? - JArtz11Oblivious to EVERYTHING! 19:19, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
sorry, but i feel like the blank looks slightly too crowded in general. notably the face (might help if you remove some of the lines on the ears ig?), and how does the blank look with those three lines removed on the cat's back leg? also, i feel like the tail still looks too straight–feel like a cats tail would naturally be more bent in such a position. Burntclaw 04:52, August 1, 2019 (UTC)
also, i feel like the linearart thickness is pretty uneven on the shorthaired blank– it's extremely thick on the cat's back and on the leg in which the paw pads are exposed but thin in other places. Burntclaw 04:54, August 1, 2019 (UTC)
That, to me, still shows it curving a bit more than what you've currently got here. I'd also maybe suggest shortening the leg with the visible toe beans? Not sure if you'd see that much leg from this angle, especially when you look at the blank without a tail. — max烈火國(05:08, 05/8/2019)
I honestly think the tail looks fine. A cats tail is always flat to the ground Snowdapple❄23:44, 8/05/2019
it's really bad, i think i might have to redo it. —Ripplewater(school > quarantine) 18:43, July 23, 2019 (UTC)
The base needs to match the other images in the set, along with the ear/nosepink and eyes. Expand the shading more on the haunch, chest, and triangle stomach area, and add more to the tail bend and shoulder area near the back. Define the eye depth. Lastly, smooth out the shading everywhere, I reccommend a 10px smudge tool set at 40% strength, and rub it back and forth on the edges of the shading.

Define the light on the back leg closest to us, the front leg closest to us, and > this ear, and recede the neck shading. Expand the shading more on on the haunch, and add some connecting shading on the tail bend. Base is still a shade too light from the queen. What I do if I want to colorpick is I copy the image into another layer and use the colorpick tool to colorpick, then I hide the layer. Smooth out the shading more. If your source is coming from the top left corner, all of the legs would be in shadow with this source (I think, but correct me if I'm wrong here). The shading could still be smoothed out, and defined on the stomach and haunch. GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 21:28, July 23, 2019 (UTC)

Can't tell if its just my eyes playing tricks, but, the image looks blurry? It might just be the waste outside the image doing that, so removing that might help. But, also smooth the shading some more on the back leg closest to us, so that it matches the smoothness you have for the front legs/chest area. This is looking really good! — max烈火國(07:00, 24/7/2019)
Add some shading to the other ear, define the shading depth, add more shading along the haunch, and remove the waste that's floating around her (ears, paws, tail is where the waste is). Define the light on >>> this side of the tail too. GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 22:12, July 24, 2019 (UTC)
Just as a head's up, you should be matching the original warrior, which the coloring should be from this version, as that was posted first. I only tweaked some eyelash issues. For some reason, the queen looks a little darker... —Jayce( 07:48, 7/25/2019 )
Ferk tweaked the queen and since I think she darkened the base because she was the OA. GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 12:16, July 25, 2019 (UTC)
Regardless, this should match the original warrior, since that was first, not the queen. If anything, the queen should be tweaked to match the warrior. —Jayce( 17:06, 7/25/2019 )

Smooth the shading out more. Here's a little tip: If you're constantly being told to smooth out the shading, smooth it out a lot more than you usually do. I learned this and it really helps, trust me. --GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 15:43, July 28, 2019 (UTC)

The stripes appear not as dark on the other images and they have this sketchiness to them...try running a small pencil tool on low opacity with the base color over the stripes and see how that works. VecI am Iron Man!👾 23:15, July 29, 2019 (UTC)
the stripes also look slightly overblurred - Fox僕たちはひとつの光02:06,7/31/2019
Hey nice job on this, you're doing great^^ it might be my eyes, but the stripes seem a bit dark compared to her other images? And a little less blurred and more tapered at the ends. —PatchfeatherOut of the Silent Planet 23:22, July 31, 2019 (UTC)
On her other images, the stripes seem to connect with the dorsal stripe more often.
These ones looked a bit too blurred, more so on the face and tail (unless it's just my eyes?) I think the problem will be solved if you smudge them a bit, like how it looks on the MCA. The stripes on here still need to be lightened, and looking at the MCA which is on the same side, it looks like the stripe placement doesn't quite match up to what you've got on here. —PatchfeatherOut of the Silent Planet 14:33, August 3, 2019 (UTC)
Hopefully you guys like it? Im really not good at shading because there are no tutorials for Pixlr char art --Milliemoo92 Sso (talk) 23:11, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
Since this is from a manga, this needs to be in grayscale and needs a lighter muzzle. --GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 23:13, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
It is? What is grayscale? Milliemoo92 Sso (talk) 23:31, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
Grayscale is the default manga color, so this must be defaulted to a darker gray. Could you also define the shading? --GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 23:32, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
So a dark grey? With grey eyes? or can they stay green. And I can try shading but I dont know how to chade on Pixlr X which is what I need to use now... Thanks! Also Is there any other single colour blanks to do? Milliemoo92 Sso (talk) 23:37, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
I would probably use a different program than Pixlr, such as GIMP or FireAlpaca, which are both free. Only the pelt would have to be in grayscale, the eyes and ear/nose pink can be any color you wish. You shade by getting a color, using the pencil tool to draw it on the pelt, lighten it, then blur/smudge it. --GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 23:41, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
I have a chromebook and am only allowed to use pixlr X... Im confused also by what you mean RIP... and ok! SO a dark grey pelt Milliemoo92 Sso (talk) 23:43, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
Alright, so you have a color wheel, right. Well, click on any color you want, then get your paintbrush/pencil tool and paint it following a clear light source like this, and then blur/smudge it with the respective tools to get a nice, smooth gradient. --GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 23:46, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
Try setting the blur tool at 100% strength and check the hard-edged box and see if it works then. --GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 23:55, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
It seemingly appears pixely and won't smooth out? Sorry if this is getting long... Should I delete MY messages? Milliemoo92 Sso (talk) 00:01, July 31, 2019 (UTC)

Please do not thumb your images. I've also renamed this to File:BP.kit-4.png so please continue to reupload over there. I'd also like to reiterate what Potato said that it is probably best if you do not use Pixlr, as it does not have a good history with images in this project. There are other free art programs, such as GIMP and Firealpaca, that can make this process easier; plus there are several members of the project who are familiar with those programs.
The shading should be darkened a little more, and maybe smoothed out. Your light source looks very good. ^^ VecI am Iron Man!👾 01:44, July 31, 2019 (UTC)

Thumbing is when the file name has a |left/right/thumb thing in the file name. To remove it, simply go into source editor and remove it from the name. --GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 01:59, July 31, 2019 (UTC)
Upload under the name Vec gave you. Smooth out the shading everywhere, and Remove the waste that's outside the lineart. --GreenflowerHeyviKabisa! 02:01, July 31, 2019 (UTC)
I think that might be the best I can do shading wise :( I did upload under BP.kit but i called it BP.kit-5? Hopefully, that was right... And can do! Milliemoo92 Sso (talk) 02:04, July 31, 2019 (UTC)
No, you need to upload over File:BP.kit-4.png. Simply click on the link, scroll down and click "Upload new version of file". Also, remove some of the shading on the tail and front limb; a similar light source that's easy to see is File:Dawnpelt.kit.alt.png. See how smooth the shading is and it's not covering all of the limbs? Try to match that. VecI am Iron Man!👾 02:08, July 31, 2019 (UTC)

Fixed! --Milliemoo92 Sso (talk) 01:30, August 1, 2019 (UTC)
I made some redlines yay! This is what I mean when I say "longer strokes"; drawing a line through most of the limb/body and only picking up to go back to the start. Sometimes I sway my brush a little bit to go over previous lines so the texture isn't that linear, and flowing with the shape of the body; rarely scribbling around randomly, if at all. This is what that looks like with 100% opacity; I kinda guessed at the color but it looks like the texture is lighter than the base imo. That's generally how I do texture.
For this style, the textured lines are very linear, almost sharp, so I tried again and got this. It doesn't curve as much, but it's good enough imo. Forgive how rough it is. And this is with full opacity. Again, colors I guessed. I hope this helps? VecI am Iron Man!👾 21:27, August 4, 2019 (UTC)

sorry, but is there any way you could make the shading less scribbly? the shading style clashes pretty strongly with the non-textured pattern of the image. its particularly noticeable on the haunch. Burntclaw 02:24, August 5, 2019 (UTC)
Reuploaded i mean, it's textured shading.. it's going to look a little like scribbles.. because its legit just lines at different types of opacities. i made another blurred shading layer to help it, but i don't know what else i can do without it being textured shading. – Cinnadear evan hansen, 03:39, August 6, 2019 (UTC)
There was... an attempt. Tried to colorpick from the old kit. Couldn't tell if there was texture or not, so if I need to remove it I'll do so. Pale chest is barely visible due to the angle and shading, but it's there. ❀ Gender🎕⚘🎜🎜🏵and proud!❀ 19:42, August 5, 2019 (UTC)
